www.18-30.com

I put this DN up for appraisal on here several months ago when i first reg'd it, there were mixed valuations.

Since then i have developed 18-30.com in to a dating/friend finding site for people of that age group, the site has 1,700+ signed up members.

I understand that the phrase "18-30" is more commonly used over here in the UK, than it is in the US, in the UK we say "i've been/or i'm going on a 18-30 holiday" etc.

There is a large tour operator company named Club 18-30, using the DName club18-30.com, which is Trademarked, however 18-30 is not TM'd, i think this is due to it being a generic term

Since reg'ng 18-30.com i have added a few more to my my list, all of which have redirections to the site www.18-30.com

18-30.net 18to30.net
18-30.biz 18to30.biz
18-30.org 18to30.org
18-30.info 18to30.info
18-30.us 18to30.us

i'm considering selling the site as a whole package but have no real idea of it's value or where to begin with the process, please feel free to advise.

Regards

"1,700+ members? Worth more then $100 i think"

Are you asking for appraisals for the domain name ALONE??
For the domain name ALONE, I agree with the membership, by and large, to date, on their valuations. Sorry.
Good Luck.

I have 12-17.com which gets 20-30 type ins a month undeveloped. Those sites clearly must be developed to get
in value.

Because of club 18-30 I think this is a UK type name. You should be able to get $100 plus over here even if it were to be undeveloped. I think you wasted your money by buyingthe .orgs etc. maybe the .net was worth reg fee. The best one to go with it would be 18-30.co.uk. 18to30 names are a waste of time IMHO (unless you want to put them on seperate IPs and try to build link pop, but there are better names for this.)

btw. This is another great use of a hyphen, without it the name loses its value.

the members above who are stating $100.00 do not know how popular a phrase 18 to 30 is in the UK.

I think it could be worth up to £1,000.00 if you found the right buyer - easily.

Whois-Search is right in suggesting you contact the club 18 to 30 website and i dont think the .us domain was worth registering

to members outside the UK - 18 to 30 is a popular phrase, probably mainly because of a large travel company which easy whois mentioned. Newspapers, TV and other media also use 18-30 in surveys etc too and this domain is worth a lot more than a few hundred bucks.:)

I think you need to be circumspect in approaching club 18-30. The value of the name comes from their success, they may have a tm argument.

yes but isnt their trademark for club 18-30

i think theyd find it hard to trademark 18-30 since it is a commonly used phrase and it is not the official name of their company

That's why I said be circumspect. It's the use of 18-30 and the contact with the company that will cause the problems. It might be worth posting a question on the legal board, they know a lot more than I do.

yeah, id definately consult some members with legal experience first but i do think that they would be interested in it as the site probably does well from type ins already

If you can't sell the domain name for at least $1500 to club 18-30, I would be shocked! I reckon it's worth up to $5000 at least really. Definitely a better name for them to get their hands on than any other permutation, even those which use the full name club18-30 (because 18-30 is visually indelible. Think of how it could be used on billboards, in holiday magazines, etc, and it's obvious it's a winner!)

When I saw this name, before reading any of the posts here, I thought "now that's a brilliant domain name". I'm sure you can find a buyer that thinks so too. Well done.

Thankyou all for your input, although some of you are way off target i.e sgopalam witha a value of $0

I have already turned down several offers for 18-30.com, the highest being 5,000 UK pounds.

I guess the phrase is not as commonly used in the US as it is here in the UK.

Keep your comments coming.

i have a few websites with hyphens and for search engines they are much better- but for branding hyphens arent as good

this domain is an exception though where the domain wouldnt make sense without the hyphen

i still cant believe some members said it sucked:)

also - hyphens are good when the last letter in the first word and the first letter in the second word is the same

ie. cheap-pants.com is better than cheappants.com ........infact both suck;)
