Yes, they do own it.
Before google purchased it for an undisclosed amount, it was a well known directory website owned by a domain investor and had substantial traffic.

A famous Chinese venture investor/domainer sold 265.com (established site) and 1 letter domain name G.CN to Google Inc in 2007.

Hao123.com, the major competitor of 265.com, was sold to Baidu Inc (the major competitor of Google China, lol)
