Hi there

I am collecting future tech domains for a few years now (see list of my hundreds of far out domains here at sedo)

Then I was lucky to register 3dvideocameras.com this November. And since then we have seen Avatar and so on coming out. Plus more and more news on actual 3d video cameras: Google news

Now I am beginning to think that this domain might actually be worth something, but I am all new to the selling part of this game. Only been buying so far.

How much is 3dvideocameras.com worth you think? Now and a bit later.

What would you do with it if you had it now? I did not even put a website up yet, but that is coming soon - a simple one page site on the subject.

Thanks for helping me out!
/Anders

I really hope someone will take the time to write a word or two on that 3dvideocameras.com domain. :)

Not sure about value today, but I'd hold on to it. Consumer 3D video cameras are on their way. Sony are working on one. Probably be a couple of years before they're commonly available, so hang in there.

Thanks!

Any idea about how much a domain like that could be worth if the consumers grab on to the idea? Ball park figure. Is it a big problem that the domain is so long?

Domain name might be long, but IMHO it's perfectly descriptive for a specific niche. I think you got a winner that might hit the 6K if and when 3d video cameras become more popular. Time will tell, lets see what's in there in 5 years or so...

Hej Anders,

It could very well sell to end-user for 10 times that or 50 times that. But I think the 6k figure was a reseller appraisal when the technology has spread enough, in a few years.

If you feel like investing time into this one, you could develop a resource site around these cameras and as the advent of the technology approaches, stear the content more and more toward money-making

Tack, icehole!

Now that's what I like to hear! I will put up a small website soon and see if I can make it rank slowly.

I have been telling my wife that this domain might just buy us a little house by the beach in a few years from now so I better get to work! :)

I just saw a commercial here in Japan advertising 3D tvs and along with it, a 3d camcorder. The value might start skyrocketing faster than you think.

It´s DOMAINING, its NOT lotto. Do rely on proven strategies, consistency, recurring small and moderate gains, staying aware of trends, etc.

imho domaining and lotto have things in common. Aditionally, aiming for "small and moderate recurring gains" might be a safe path to take but is by no means the only correct way to go about domaining, imho.

Also, a word of advice to Anders: I have seen alot of forum members acquire great tech-names of the years, only to hold them pre-, during and post boom of that particular technology. If I were you, I would start looking around for interested parties (major tech companies) already now.

I agree with ice, the tech is bound to emerge - sooner than later. I'd hit up some larger companies & plug it around just to garner some interest. Play the field a bit and try to get some offers going. This is an exact product domain that represents a high dollar electronic item, so ppc will be generous & that alone constitutes value to the right buyer. Get busy with it & you might be pleasantly surprised at what it brings.

Good luck with it
