now your getting it guys....

well done cooldomains

REGARDLESS of what the cell / mobile / phone manufaturers come up with... there are too many # keypads / keyboards to change around the world, also the numeric keypresses are ALMOST the same on MOST carriers...

THUS if you are at your PC / MAC / whatever you will move your hand and use your universal number keypad and type in 7368257 if your mobile is wired / wireless / in its charging cradle it will fire up the mobile site.... if you are on the train you will do the same....

now all very well BUt as we have stated the obvious, until the carriers find a way of changing how we type letters / characters onto a NUMERIC keypad, the actual TYPING of the word RENTALS would be:

7773366825557777 so cooldomains reg is right but its wrong if you know what we mean:

some carriers / asian key presses are slightly different BUT on the whole the actual entry of what you are looking for around the world will be based on the normal sms/text entry method....

just have a play with your mobile keypad in text mode / sms and you will see what we mean....

that is why SHORT and MEM 3/4/5 odd words with low keypresses and NUMERIC .mobis will be worth more.... for now....

this is not including all the generic and meaningful keyword .mobis that are being registered as they will do well just on the strength of the word in google etc

but if they do, do well your webasite developer / host will have to automatically adjust your site to mobile / PC visitor..... try going to bmw.mobi on your PC and then on your cell / mobile... YUK!

So this is not a thread hijack.... it is important to see how there is not much value in numbers that mean things but do not really... if you know what we mean.... for now!

Value of 7368257.mobi - $xx but find the phone holder of 7368257 and worth much more!

7368257.mobi is probably not worth much at the moment but could prove to be a wise investment and the fact its a .mobi tld.

When the technology takes off for any company to setup their own voip network via there ip to create a direct telephone link, then a domain like this will be to die for and in huge demand.....

just imagine One telephone Contact number from anywhere in the world and no awakward dailing codes to remember but instead one easy Number like 7368257 which also spells a Service a company Provides....PERRRFECT

Example... From anywhere in the world via a wifi hotspot you could 'rent a car' without looking up for different numbers... a true Global Service Indeed

... This would also be possible via a Landline Handset (once they add a '.mobi' KEYPAD) as they also Facilitate LETTERS on keys 2-9 just like a mobile handset. BUT if this doesn't happen, not to worry as Mobiles are available to all anyway

IMHO Regfee is defo worth the Risk for a name like this. KEEP IT AS A LONG TERM INVESTMENT

This is exactly what I had in mind when I regged 3569377.mobi

A long shot indeed, but could pay off BIG. :bounce:

I regged a few names like this. Out of all of them, the only one that I really like is 8255 (talk) .mobi. I'm not sure about the others even though it seems like many people regged names like this.

3dGEEK ....you are right on.

IMHO, we need to get off the .com mentality and consider that .mobi is a very different animal. We all need to think about futureuses for the .mobi domain; perhaps things that do not now exist.

It's easy to laugh at a long number registration, but it may very well be something special for .mobi, as you point out. I remember back only some weeks ago when people said it was a waste of money to register random LLL.mobi's. That was proven wrong pretty quickly.

It will be interesting to see how the mobile internet develops, and some here may be very lucky with these long-shots.

Never in a million years because there are millions of alternatives. Even if it matches someones phone number, they could change their phone number and pick up another name. I would buy words for the voip rather than numbers.

^ Why would that make your 7 digit numbers valuable? There are still millions of others to choose from? I'm not yet into Voip so please enlighten me.

We are talking about A single easy to remember number without any area dialing codes - this cannot be achived through different telephone operators (including mobile) around the world as they all have different codes and numberring systems. But just in case you do fancy a memorable telephone number which would still be area limited, it will still cost you an ARM and a LEG....for example (and this is the Reality)...

http://search.ebay.co.uk/mobile-numbers_W0QQfromZR8QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ3QQsbrsrtZd

Remember, these are only Restricted with additional dialing codes for use around the world...

I think ".mobi" would work as Single Dialing code WorldWide with a VOIP System in place

So if I need a Limo service from anywhere around the world you would dial 5466.mobi (LIMO) at it takes you directly to talk to an operator via the Company VOIP (VoiceOverInternetProtocol) Network and you can Enquire/Check Availability/arrange booking within minutes.... vola !

and the same goes with buying/sending Flowers etc

Yes, you can have any 'number' .mobi in the world for peanuts like 26229754667.mobi (BOBBY's LIMOS) but not the most appealing to any Larger Companies/Worldwide Operators :greenconfused:

If you look hard, you'll notice almost every Generic Word equivalant Number dot com is already taken (and wasted IMHO). and .NET .ORG .INFO etc are no way appealing for a Mobile Phone (not even the Dot COM IMHO)

Mobile Phones = DotMobies :)

...Nevermind ! :disappointed:

few DNr's may be getting slightly confused over what is a WORD .mobi and what is a .mobi that spells a word.....

so....

MOST cell/mobile/pda/numeric entry keypads around the WHOLE world have letters represented by key presses... so a word in the real world is not the same in the mobi world!!!

so...

other than the generic value of major keywords how is a mobi worth anything??

a simple guide other than numeric short mobis is if the keypresses entered SPELL a word NOT say or mean a word you are $ in!!!

there we go.... simple and true... for the moment! :undecided:

do NOT go and waste your money registering .mobis with long or words that mean something by the letters unless it is really easy to remember....

check out phonespell.org to experiment with it all....
