Hi. Thanks in advance!

I have a central website, for the purposes of this post call it "trees.com"

I also own some related but less generic names, for this example "pinetrees.com" and "fruittrees.com.

My main site is well developed, and my related names are not developed at all. The related names do well as far as # of searches/month, but not well when it comes to actual type ins.

How to I capitalize on owning these names - if they forward to a page on the main site that is about them (e.g. www.trees.com/fruittrees), will the related domain names be indexed according to the content on that page?

Thanks!

:)

Develop the related domains and link to them from the main site (to pass on its authority).

Thanks acro...that's what I figured. I was hoping a direct forward to a page on the main site would do something for them.

You can do that but then you're reversing the results: driving traffic to the main site and thinning out the related sites.

Thanks - but if I would not otherwise develop the related names, would this actually successfully drive traffic to the main site, or only if the related names are actually typed in? Do the domains "earn" SE placement if they are merely forwarded to a related page (i.e. someone searches for "fruit trees", and my domain comes up high in SE results because of the content on trees.com/fruittrees)?

I think if you are trying to boost your main site, you should set up a "link-wheel" with these domains. Put a small website - even a one page lander - with some unique content on each. Link each of them to the next site (in a wheel fashion) and also to your main site. I might also do some deep linking to your main site using good anchor text keywords.

Thanks - that's what I'll do. I appreciate the help!
