On the 21/01/10 spongy.com sold on tdnam for $2705 then sold on sedo just a few weeks later for $3100,now with sedo's commission thats less than $100 profit...........

I know we all have done it, but i have not on that scale for one domain, although the seller came out out very little profit,.

Is this failed punt ?

Yes.

To be honest, I'm suprised they managed to turn that name round for a profit (on the face of it).
