hi, I just encountered an problem and don't know the answer.
I'll give you a example:
when you search the ovt for a domain like with 2 words, like go-daddy.com
separated by the "-" sign, the result that shows up is like go daddy.com not including the "-".
So how important is the ovt for domains with "-" in them?
can you consider the ovt normal as for all domains?
thanks!

ovt does NOT take into account '-' (just like search engines).
So, for '-' domains, you can not get an accurate result with ovt.
the same applies for plural words.
ovt does NOT take into account plural/singular

From what I've seen, it probably isn't worth registering go-daddy.com based on the apparent results in the overture tool.

The overture tool measures the number of times a phrase is searched for in a given month and, although it ignores hyphens, a result like "3891 go daddy.com" probably means that a lot of people typed a space not a hyphen. Most people who touch-type are conditioned to hit the spacebar between words. If only IDN had support for spaces..

I guess you can certainly give it a try - the worst that can happen is you waste $8.. you might make more! :)
