I sent this to Wired and the editors said it was the funniest thing
they've seen all week, and they're following up.


Apparently, someone at Proctor & Gamble heard about the importance of
registering a good domain name, and the horrors of domain-name
hustling. But why stop with the corporate name (PG.COM) and major
trademarks? Why not also protect HEADACHE.COM, DIARRHEA.COM,
UNDERARM.COM, BADBREATH.COM, and anything else even remotely related to
personal hygiene? I kid you not... I just did a whois on DIARRHEA.COM
and it's real...


Do these guys look absolutely silly, or am I just over-sensitive this morning?

Well they look pretty smart at this stage..some very nice domains in the list.. you can find similiar registrations by Yahoo, AOL, TORO, IBM etc.. they all tried to cover all the bases for possible traffic. and a lot of tyhem still do.. have you looked at .info, .Biz .US registrations these companies have made !

Whoa, Seems like they covered alot of ground. And whats ironic is I dont think I have ever typed any of those domains into my browser.

If I remember right, they let these all expire about a year or more ago, after unsuccessfully trying to sell them for $1M each

P&G sold FLU.COM at over $350,000.

i heard the many domains dropped on Nov 8th, 2001, but I still doubt that.
