ads at the top of a list get most clicks because:
a) that's where visitors mostly focus their attention. if all ads were equally relevant, the ones at the top would still get most clicks, while those at the bottom would get least.
b) (assuming that the ads are not equally relevant) the fact that they are at the top has only to do with higher relevancy which results in turn generates more clicks and moves them up the list.
c) combination of first two points
any opinions? do you know any research material i could read?
