I have a collection of about 60 domains that I plan to hold onto for 5 - 10 more years.

During this time I'd ideally like to take action to increase the value of them all.

I don't think parking is a good way to do this and wonder if you've got any advice as to what might be ...

1) easy / quick to implement
2) likely to improve PR and traffic
3) cheap

Thanks in advance for your suggestions,

Best wishes,

Martin

Check out some of the 'mini-site' development threads.
Many DNFers will build you inexpensive sites in bulk.
Nice strategy by the way! It fits my bill as well.
One risk though is a major change in the internet which could adversely affect domain name value.
Good luck.

Hi

despite what you think, parking is the best solution until you actually come up with development plans.

while your domains are parked....

you could get offers
you could get stats
you could make $

these things will help to determine value of the names, if any.

I disagree with the above. (But that is a side note.) He was asking as to how to:

1) easy / quick to implement
2) likely to improve PR and traffic
3) cheap

Parking would fulfill 1 and 3 but not 2.

Parking won't increase PR ranking and can actually penalize a domain in the SE'.s To add on that, you are not going to get an increase in traffic because of no indexed pages in the SE.

I like the idea about minisites. This will have a higher probability of getting you indexed in the SE's which may result in more traffic to the domain.

Although I like parking and use it for my names, I agree with DomainLobe as to your certian situation. A minisite would probably fulfill what you are looking for w/o going to a full blown site.

Indeed, if you want to increase the value of the domain via a long run and not interested in the parking revenue develop some site for it.

Thanks,

@Domainlobe - Thank you, I wasn't aware of mini-sites within this forum so I'll take a look now.

@Biggedon - The thing putting me off this is that I don't expect much / any type-in traffic so I don't think it'll increase the value of the domain.

... Perhaps I can contribute a few things I'm doing / considering too as i may not be quite as wet behind the ears as I may sound and might as well contribute to my own thread ...

- I'm looking at scripts that I can allow other members to set up blogs, forums, profile pages etc onto my sub-domains. Things like WordpressMU will be perfect for my blog-related sites and there seems to be scripts to allow people to host forums on etc. I'll offer the services for free, maybe with some nominal ads on the site / affiliate links and let other people build content for me.

- Build automated wordpress blogs may help as long as its done carefully.

- Some sites I may link together in blogfarms

any more suggestions for you professionals?

Best wishes,

Martin

Develop them but don't go the cheap minisite route - it could end up costing you your plan. Many of these cheap duplicate content and/or autoblog websites being offered will make you some money but they don't really offer any substantial value to your domain imo. AND they also run the risk of being dropped from the search results all together. Getting your domain/website re-listed is no sure thing either.

Google is busting down on duplicate content/scrapper/autoblog type websites - and I can't agree more. Who wants to see a website with more ads than content - and what content is there has been published sometimes hundreds of times. Not much better than spam really.

You get what you pay for - so if you value your domains treat them right, and they will do as you want.
