Hey Guys,
I received an email today regarding a domain I own called aaa-credit.info
I am pasting the letter here:
Dear Sir or Madam:
As you may know, the American Automobile Association, or AAA, is a nearly 104-year-old association that provides its more than 49,000,000 members with a wide variety of automobile, travel, legal, financial, insurance, and other products and services.
In order to identify and distinguish its own products and services from those of others, the American Automobile Association employs numerous marks and logo designs, which it has registered as federal trademarks for the exclusive use of itself and its member clubs. These registered marks include, among others, the "AAA" mark and the AAA oval logo design.
Unauthorized businesses that use the American Automobile Association's designations, or confusingly similar designations, in conjunction with the sale of their own products and services may mislead consumers who are likely to confuse those products and services with those offered or approved by the American Automobile Association. Such unauthorized use of the American Automobile Associationâs marks constitutes trademark infringement, trademark dilution, and unfair competition, and is unlawful under the Lanham Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1051 et seq, and various state laws.
We therefore ask that you immediately cease and desist from any and all infringing use of the âAAAâ trademarks contained on the site aaa-credit.info, and of designations confusingly similar to those marks. We request that you immediately:
1. Discontinue use of the American Automobile Association's trademarks, and of any other name, mark, or logo confusingly similar to them;
2. Destroy all materials displaying the American Automobile Associationâs trademarks, and any other name, mark, or logo confusingly similar to them, including signs, advertisements, forms, and stationery;
3. Agree permanently to cease all use of the American Automobile Associationâs trademarks, and any other name, mark, or logo confusingly similar to them; and
4. Provide written confirmation of your discontinuance and destruction of these materials.
The American Automobile Association takes seriously its responsibility to protect its trademarks and to prevent the public from being misled by unauthorized use. If we have not heard from you by we will assume that you will not voluntarily discontinue use of our trademarks, and we will pursue our legal options.
Very truly yours,
Any Idea?
Thanks,
Rami
