When Aakash Tablet was introduced as LCAD(low cost access device) with subsidized cost close to 35$ for college kids throughout India,a couple of people pointed out, its a vaporware. Now, everyone knows it isn't vaporware certainly, however early adopters has expressed disappointment with performance of Aakash Tablet PC in Aakash Tablet Review. Government has said that there will be an enormous market of 22 crores Akash Tablet and they also may choose new manufactures for this project.

From domain traders(and website entrepreneurs) perspective, success in the tablet will lead enormous internet enabled population, for many of them, it might be only access to the internet device. What's your take? If it happens .IN will skyrocket!!

The Indian government is living in an alternate reality. The Aakash tablet is nothing more than another stab at populism, a stunt designed to garner some headlines than make anyone's life actually better.

Want to make things better for college students, entrepreneurs and common people? Fix up the roads, give better and cheaper internet access, and start connecting rural India to the power grid. It's preposterous of the government to be bragging about the Aakash tablet when it can't even provide everyone with electricity and running water. Internet speeds are still absolutely horrendous and haven't improved a great deal in the past 5 years. Even today, I find it difficult to stream a YouTube video on one of the fastest connections in the country which costs me more than $30/month.

The Aakash is bulls**t. Can you really expect a game changing tablet from a government that hasn't yet learned to make roads that don't get riddled with potholes every monsoon, or even install traffic lights that don't stop working abruptly at busy intersections (even in cities like Delhi!)?

It's just a tablet anyway, nothing to do with .in
It's like saying .mobi is the future because people use cellphones and smartphones more and more to access the Internet.

.mobi. Don't get me started on that...
We had some great times here when the .mobi bubble was blowing up with that $600k Music.mobi sale in 2007.
