This is kind of an extension of the reply to a question about what 360 is all about in a domain name. Virtual Reality is actually a lot bigger than just doing virtual tours or panoramas that are displayed on the internet. In fact the larger Virtual Reality community would probably be a little offended that VR was described in such limited terms.
Virtual Reality has a lot to do with simulation. Like the simulators that are used for astronauts, pilots, drivers, or other training for complicated and potentially dangerous machinery.
The military of many countries are into VR too, using robotic, miniature tanks which can be controlled from a remote (safe) location. Or the helicopters or airplanes. There was some Robin Williams movie that was about this (Toys?) but it is for real right now.
VR is also used for games which are gaining popularity in arcades. The more senses involved, the more fun these games are. Headsets and other sensory devices attached. What was that Woody Allen movie where you go into a machine to have s--?
VR is also used in medicine. Most known are probably the mini cameras that help with surgical procedures, but they also have simulation for medical students who are learning surgery. I don't mind if they get a little practice before practicing on me!
Virtual Reality is used in architecture where they can virtually construct buildings or parks and and see the spacial and design elements before actually building.
There is a robot on Mars right now checking it out with panospheric cameras. Driving around Mars in the comfort of your home. Astronomical.
Given the growth of the field, VR names are a good investment, using words like virtual, panoramic, panorama, 3D, 360, Sim, even cyber. If you have VR names you want to list for free, no commission on sales, please PM.
