I got an ok offer for a .ws domain.
The problem is that the offer was 160 $US and Sedo fee 150 $US !!
Which leaves me $10 - an offer i can't accept of course.
By taking these kind of absourd minimun fee, Sedo actually prevent accepting any offer in the range of let's say $150-$300, and cause a failure to transactions. 10% would do just fine in a low-amount deal like this.

Well try emailing the client who bidded and ask him if he wants to make an private sale.
That would be better and more profit for you.

Yes, You're absolutely right about that, zenmaster. Sedo's minimum fee is
very contraproductive for low-amount domain sales. It's impossible to sell
a domain name <$200 through Sedo, because first of all Sedo takes much
as commission and second you cannot higher the price, because the domain
may not be worth more than that bid. I've already talked to Ole at Sedo
Germany about that issue, but he said that the fee structure probably won't
change for a long term. However, you could try emailing Sedo about your
sale, maybe they will make an exception so you still can sell your domain
through their service. Good luck with successfully selling your domain!

Hi there,

We are looking to lower the minimum commission for a lot of new extensions at the moment. The time scale on this is 3-4 weeks. We are lowering the minimum commission on a lot of TLDs which are maybe not so common but are very easy to transfer. These include TLDs such as .ws and MX domains. If you have any other ideas for TLDs which are easy to transfer but have a high commission, then drop me an email and I'll see what I can do.

Much as I would like to help you out, please don't ask about .co.uk domains!! If you'd like us to reduce our commission on .co.uk domains, feel free to contact Nominet expressing your annoyance with them!!

Any update?

I just received an offer on a .ws name for $160, after sedo's fees my cut would be $10 less my cost to reg. the name $8.70 = $1.30 profit...

Thanks,

Mike

Well mike, the deal canceled because of that fee.. No way to sell these names through Sedo i guess, unless they will change their policy or by getting an offer that worth it :)

I think in matters like this and domains of a value under $300 (.ws domains) SEDO should inform the Buyer of the Sellers Contact Information.. or allow them to negotiate this type of transaction only via paypal.. eliminating SEDOs time and resources.

.ws domains registered with most top registries are as easy as pushing .coms

as for the .co.uk comment.. well that is a can of worms that your really dont want to open. The .co.uk market needs to be opened up.. wait and see what happens at the AGM...

Is there a problem with .co.uk domains? I just bought one and it was cheaper than a .com... less than $13 for 2 years. Am I missing something?
