I picked a domain on a drop a few days ago.
paid good money for it $3k ish

A company with the same name has contacted me wanted to buy it.

price agreed - $8k

now the question is....shall I sell it? and is it worth more?...and to whom?

its not like its sex.com

okay its got 8.5mill in google.

need a bit of wisdom.

and I usually get some wisdom as well as getting my butt kicked in the process

thanks in advance

Since you agreed, you are pretty much obligated to sell, especially if you did so in writing / email. $5K in a week is nothing the sneeze at. Do the right thing.

Its nothing that will make you rich but its always nice to get an offer that fast. Makes me wish i would of pursed the domain. If you can't think of anyone else who it would be worth more to with a little research, i think you know what to do.

Sounds like a fair price to me. End users aren't always that easy to lance even for great domains, I'd honour your deal and take the money.

I would take the money and reinvest in a more quality name.

Sound like your end user found you and made a good offer...It happened for you in a week. Usually takes me at least 6 months.

I'd consider this an ideal situation and sell the name...unless of course, you had bigger plans for the name when you bought it...

He has a deal agreed, and a nice profit. It wouldn't be right to break an agreement. I'd be taking the money and thinking that it's nice to know I'm not going to get involved in what might be potentially a TM dispute.

Robmac, namestrands posted a full-on domain sale agreement a while back on the forum.

Thanks for all your advise guys. Gregoire got it spot on though :)

I will sell but I think Gregoire saw some more money as thats the company that wants it.

But you guys are right in turning a profit quick and the fact that I kind of aggreed in the price. and thanks for not kicking my butt :p

Whilst that webpage looks impressive it's very difficult to gauge how much they'd be prepared to pay. I have emailed companies with equally impressive looking websites and credentials regarding the .com version of their domain and have been knocked back for less money than you're talking about here. At the end of the day I think it's a fair deal.

It is the right decision.

Just imagine the implications for your reputation if publicly here you backed out having agreed a price.

In this business our name and reputation is everything. If you are just a fly by night opportunist then this would not concern you, but the fact that you came to the forum to basically confirm your own feelings says a lot in your favour. We all have doubts when we have reached an agreement, we suddenly realise that we could have negotiated better or discovered facts that would directly influence a the price to rise, but that is not long term thinking. Learn from this and next time do a little more research before agreeing the price, and of course enjoy the $5,000 profit you have just made.
