It's NOT the amount that matters here. $35 or $500 just doesn't make any difference to corporations. I would say it mostly depends on how you interact with the other party. Of course, if you are lucky enough to come across some harsh attorneys, they won't even let you go without paying THEM administrative charges.

When I get a C&D letter that I know I will lose, I ask for reg fees back. I make it a point to tell them that I will not be profiting from this action, because somewhere (I cannot remember exactly where) it states "profit from selling to the mark holder" (or somethign similar). . .

I "sold" a name to the NHL after they sent me a C&D letter and got a $20 check from them :laugh: However, the lawyer for the NHL was cool (but very firm in his stance).
