I’m starting up an e-news letter for NerdHelp.com.

Info on NerdHelp.com:

NerdHelp.com is a free tech support website that attracts over 2,000 unique visitors each and every day. Over 90% of our traffic is directly from search engines from people trying to find answers to their questions. Out of the 2,000 uniques, about 5-10+ join our community each day. As of February 19th, 2004, we have 884 registered members.

Now you are probably asking, “Why do I want to be in your news letter?”

Answer: Because our members are very new to computers and the internet, and are therefore very impressionable to advertisements. Think of it this way…would you rather advertise to thousands of people who already know what they want, or hundreds of users who do not know what they want and are looking for someone (like NerdHelp.com) to refer people.

Pricing: $20 to be included in a review section of the news letter (we will review your site and then write a short paragraph about it) ---I’m only allowing a few of these.

Or

$5 for a link and short description of site at the end of the news letter.

I’m only going to allow several links to be included.

Your link or review will be in the news letter for 1 issue at which time your links will be removed and I will accept other offers. However, if you are purchasing the review advertisement for more than 1 issue, then your price will be cut in half for all future advertisements. (I.e. First issue you pay $20, second issue you pay $10, Third issue you pay $10, etc.).

**I will be raising the price month by month, but the price you pay now will be the price you always pay if you continue to purchase adspace**

This is a great chance to be able to reach hundreds of very impressionable Internet users.

Thanks for reading! PM me if interested.

Here is the first newsletter that is going out. You can see at the bottom how the links will be set up.

NerdHelp.com News Letter
February 19th, 2004
Issue 1, Volume 1.

Table of Contents:
1...................................Introduction
2...................................Updates on NerdHelp.com
3...................................Additional News From DiviniTech
4...................................Sites in Focus
5...................................Advertisements

*1* Introduction

Welcome to the first of many to come newsletters. Within these newsletters you will find updates on the website, helpful tips and hints for your computer, and warnings and cautions about current virus threats.

If ever you wish to be removed from the newsletter, simply check the "do not send admin news" option in your member preferences. We respect your privacy.

*2* Updates on NerdHelp.com

NerdHelp.com just went through a server change, because of this, there are some minor errors on the website such as in the tutorials section, NerdResource section, and both resources within those sections. These errors will be dealt with over the weekend and should be fixed within a matter of an hour or two.

Other updates to the site included an updated "Contact Us" page with an updated moderators list that will include our newest moderators (Dave and X), and exclude some of the moderators whom have chosen to withdraw from helping at NerdHelp.com, (Unimad and Elijah). The new contact section will include an easier layout to help direct all questions, and a better, more professional, overall look.

Other updates planned for NerdHelp.com are as follows:
-Review Section
-Upgrade to forums

*3* Computer Tip of the Week

The first tip is a simple one, but very useful tip. If you are installing products to your computer that always seem to need the Windows install disc, then this will be a life saver for you.
First, find your Windows install disc.
Second, go to Start>Program Files>Windows Explorer
Third, go to your CD drive and open it to see all the files on the CD.
Fourth, highlight all of the files and folders
Fifth, go to Edit>Copy
Sixth, go to your local hard drive and make a folder “WinFiles”
Seventh, go into your newly created folder and then go to Edit>Paste

Congratulations! Now whenever a program asks you to insert your Windows CD you can simply point it to your new “WinFiles” directory and you never have to search for the CD again.

*4* Additional News from DiviniTech

First off, since this is the first news letter, some of you are probably wondering what “DiviniTech” is. DiviniTech (DiviniTech.com) is the network which controls many sites, including NerdHelp.com. DiviniTech specializes in free resource sites and other types of non-payment sites that benefit the user by way of knowledge or business exposure. Now onto the news.

-Spammer on NerdHelp.com-
We had a spammer on NerdHelp.com who chose to submit about 217 posts with nothing but nonsense in them. However, the posts were quickly—and easily—deleted and his ISP was notified and provided with logs of the spam. As stated in NerdHelp.com’s TOS that the spammer agreed to when he or she registered, I will provide their IP address and node information to help other webmasters on NerdHelp.com prevent this user from spamming their sites.

Offender's IP: 24.210.128.208
Offender's ISP: Road Runner
Node Details: dhcp024-210-128-208.woh.rr.com

-New Website Coming Soon to DiviniTech Network-
I had a bad experience with my last host totally turning two-faced on me and causing me a lot of grief. Then my friend told me about how he lost about $900 because a site sent him faulty merchandise and would not refund because it was not their policy. And once again, I heard from another friend about a site that ripped them out of $200 because they sent the wrong product and then said it was in the database that the product he paid for was the one he got (after a few months he resolved this…but after the stress of dealing with them for a few months).

So it hit me…there should be a website online that makes it easy to see if a site you plan to do business with has had exceptional problems in dealing with people in the past. After thinking about this, I created www.eBoycott.org. A free, VERY user friendly database that will allow people to check a site in question to see if it has a current “boycott” running against it.

More information:

“EBoycott.org will be a completely user-friendly resource to help its members decipher which companies online to steer away from doing business with. The website will provide a database of websites in which the user can search through them all with a search-box-feature, or just browse through the different categories by hand and see all the sites.”

EBoycott.org is currently being coded and should be finished within a week or two. On it’s debut to the Internet, it should already have approximately 20 to 30 websites in it from web hosts to e-stores.

Looking for some good advertising? EBoycott.org will be offering a “Alternative Service Provider” advertising service that will place only a select few ads on the boycott page being viewed. This allows the person to find an alternative service provider fast and efficiently.

*4* NerdWorthy Services

The NerdWorthy Services section is meant to provide some information on some very nerd worthy services such as hosting, e-stores, etc. Each site here has been reviewed by a NerdHelp.com Team Member for quality content or service.
