Advice on selling 2 letter .com domain

I am assisting our company in selling their 2 letter domain. Googling around, I ran across this forum, and hoped I might find guidance so I avoid pitfalls.

I have heard that auctions can be pretty dicy as you may end up with squatters doing lowball bids, and not getting the best price compared to private sale. I am sure I'll need to run this through an escrow company like escrow.com to make sure both sides are covered. I am not sure if announcing the domain to be sold is wise at this time. Let's just say I can list off a few hundred companies that would love to have it.

Right now I am scrambling to get our email system to accept emails at the advertised whois address, since I don't dare change it and lock the transfer for 60 days.

Is self brokering the sale and running it through escrow.com a crazy idea?

What are typical broker fees?

Are there companies to avoid?

Is this forum tied to a particular entity that they would want me to use?

Hi John

no, it's not crazy idea

but I suggest you use escrow.com concierge service for a 2 L .com
you're looking at a potential 7 figure deal or more depending on the letters.

would be good to have counsel as well

a broker would salivate for something like this, as well as the borkers, so be vigilant if you go that route.

pm if you like

Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice! Definitely looking like I'll use escrow.com to keep both sides safe.
