I`ve checked those domains selling through after nick and was pleasantly surprised. For instance Voyaged.com, is after 68 bids appraised $3258 and growing.. Then bizgreatbritain.com, 25 bids and $605. Japanr.net $375 after 25 bids and many other domains..

Im surprised that they get this high bids. Not saying that they arent good names, its just that Ive already seen, in my oppinion better domains, appraised for much less. So wheres the catch? Are these domains realy that good and wort that much, or are owners cheating and bidding on their own domains, to raise the price?

EDIT: Maybe its my mistake.. Are these so called "min. bids" actually reserves and not the current price?

At afternic.com alot of the names in the portfolios are crap. They sell for alot after many many bidders..heh.. they are all friends shilling one another's auction to jack prices up :)

The question is, do they sell at the end for the price stated?

No. I used to see the sold sign up on names for a ridiculous price then a few weeks later they were back on sale by the original owner and the whole game would start again.

Many of the bids at afternic are false, mostly groups of friends shilling each others names.

One group in particular I am personally familar with (a group of approx' half dozen members) shills constantly, each one bidding in turn until the bid approaches the reserve or sales price but suddenly stops bids just short of that price.

There are other shill groups at afternic. A surprising percentage of the bids there are false. That's why I pay little if any attention to the bdis there. Some of their reported sales are also highly suspect.

This question always pops up....

My answer is: If the name is good enough, buyers will find you!

If your name is not attracting buyers...do some creative marketing.

Ebay is a last resort.

Personally, if a few weeks go by and I
don't see those bids for FolioE.com or
Swinger.net I wonder what happened
over there. :D
