Looking to download one of these and wondering which one is the most used?

Which chat is the most reliable? ICQ, AIM, MSN, YAHOO

Thanks for the info

I believe most people use MSN.

I prefer AIM.

My favorite is probably Yahoo (for casual IMing. Not business)

Personal- MSN
Domains/webhosting business- AIM
Adult Entertainment- ICQ

That's just my opinion.

I prefer the chatting on AIM the best.

I've used ICQ since it came out. I've tried MSN, but don't care much for it. I just stick with ICQ. Most of my friends also use it.

How about this? I find IM too intruding, and have not been using one since I last uninstalled my MSN kind of "accidentally".

Oh, but the way, I'm thinking of experimenting/playing with Jabber IM which allows cross-platform communication:

MSN ~ Personal
ICQ ~ Business

Couple points..

One reason ICQ is better for business is because it's much harder to send someone the wrong message.. MSN you can easily say something in the wrong window if you have more than one convo going... I almost said something that would have looked *very bad* to a business guy I have on msn once as I was talking in two windows.

IMO don't get the new MSN... since version 6 came out it sucks & I refuse to download it. The emoticons are moved up top instead of where they used to be; they have these new "avatars" that I told msn to hide but they kept on coming back anyway & the new animated smileys suck arse! Download 5 @ www.oldversion.com lol

However, I have been having HUGE problems with msn in the last week.. I have to sign in several times to get logged in properly (use ctrl + alt + del) to close it.. in this process it also screws up my sound very regularly which I can't fix without rebooting & also screws up the rebooting process where I have to use the manual reboot button to be able to reboot.

ICQ also has it's problems for some... sometimes it screws itself & doesn't send the message... so don't rely on people *always* getting the message; especially if you send it to them when they are offline.

I use all but ICQ... not because I like them but because different business partners use different systems. I really think it is for the most part a matter of which one you use first and get comfortable on first, rather than which is better. My personal pref is for MSN, followed by AOL, then Yahoo. But again, there isn't much difference.

I will check out jabber

I use trillian which controls my AIM, ICQ, MSN, and YIM. I have to have all of them so that I can talk with friends and customers. Trillian takes care of everything very nicely. Plus it can be skinned a million different ways :p.
