Don't base your decision solely on the traffic rank unless it is in the top 100,000.
I have had sites with great alexa rankings which were getting little traffic so it is really a tough call based solely on the numbers.
The alexa rankings are from people who are using the alexa toolbar (at least a large percentage are) and people within our industry are more apt to be using the toolbar as well as visiting their own site on a regular basis thus throwing off the rankings.

More or less you have to do a little digging including the following:

Check the wayback time machine (archive.org) to see what was previously there for a site.

Check the links in to see if they are relevant or someone pointing a bunch of their own sites at this particular domain or have links coming in that are from FFA pages etc.
At the same time check to see the country of origin of the incoming traffic/links.

Check Marketleap.com to see the links from the search engines and go through to check out a few of these links as well.

Good luck.

Hey John,

What's little traffic to you....10-20?

I regged a domain that had a 500,000 ranking and I get about 70 uniques a day. Is that little..?

Thanks Bryan for the smooth and fast transfer of that org name I got from you (not the one above). Much appreciated.

No that's great traffic for a dropped name!

I am referring to my rankings of some of my sites. At one point I had bjsgazebos.com with no incoming links and myself and several others were working on it for like 4 days and the ranking was at 500,000 and there was almost no traffic and my site boarder.com was getting 100 uniques a day and was like 2 million and then over time it went down to like 500,000 as well.
It's funny but the alexa rankings never agree with my actual stats but it is still an awesome tool which I use every single day.
