I mean, AV isn't sure with the linkcounts.
Enter link:www.TAPERCITIES.com into AV's
search form. You'll get (at least I got a few times)
AltaVista found 4,261 results and al list of more then 10 pages to browse.
Then click Next. You'll see:
AltaVista found 148 results, and just 3 pages to browse. If you go back and enter the same query again, you'll still get 148 results. How long? No idea.

Yep, happens all the time with altavista. Always check page 5 or higher of the search results to find out the "real" number of links found to the domain name. Also look at some of the search results to make sure the sites that link to the domain name are actual pages and not just FFA sites or pages created by link farms such as LinkstoYou.com.
