What should I look at if not past sales of similar names?
Hi
well, the problem i see is
that you're looking at domains listed for sale and then questioning their value, lack of bids, etc., based on some "unknown past sales" you found listed on nb.
you assume that "one thing/event/sale in the past", defines value for a domain with similar words, automatically.
even if that past sale was the exact same domain, doesn't mean it would sell for same price or higher today.
that, is a part of what makes each individual domain unique.
a domain may have had appeal in the past, but today, doesn't command same interest, therefore value may go down.
and in contrast, a domain in the past, may not have had much value, but today it is trending.
several years ago, i sold a two word.com 'escort' domain for ten k, via lease deal.
now, at that time, escort business was very good and so was typein traffic for that domain
times have changed since then, so have values and prices.
these are some of the things you need to know and understand, before trying to compare a past sale, with today's domains and values.
because it's not so simple.
the intangibles and variables that bring two parties together, to complete a transaction.... doesn't carry forward to all names with same keyword.
imo....
