Hello everyone,

I have a question,
If I buy a hijacked domain name from a member here,
and the member doesn't know that the domain name is hijacked (he bought it from the hijacker)

one day, when the origional registrant finds that their domain name was stolen,
and they ask me to give the domain name back to them,
shall I contact the member who sold the domain name to me and ask him to refunds me???

please give some opinions!!!

Thanks!

It seems more a legal question than one of ethics.

Ok.....
so what's your opinion??

My advice: stay clear of hijacked domains. If you don't, you deserve whatever ramification you beget.

I know if I got tangled into that somehow then I would refund the buyer , so maybe asking would not hurt.

OK first thing is first i hope the name is back to its rightful owner. Second i don't think there is anything wrong in asking for your money back. Perhaps if u ask he will check who he got the domain from and if it is from a known person he can expose him/her.

So how do you prevent yourself from buying a hijacked domain?

I often check the whois record,
If I find any strange change between the previous owner and the seller,
I won't buy that name.
