I've had this thought swimming around my head since the past two hours. Thought I'd share it with you.
There are a few facts we know about domains (and domainers):
1. Domainers are lazy
2. Domainers have 1000's of domains
3. Since the domains are so many, managing/developing them is near impossible, or too difficult.
4. Type in traffic is one of the most targeted, almost as good as PPC.
The current parking model pays you when a visitor clicks on an ad - a CPC model.
The other major advertising models on the internet include the CPM model, and the CPA model (which includes affiliate marketing).
What if there was a service that matched your domain with relevant CPA offers at Amazon/Clickbank/eBay/Others?
Say, you have a domain: DownloadYouTubeVideos.com
You get 100 unique visitors a day, all looking for some software or tool that will help them download YouTube videos.
On the current parking model, your domain will simply display some ads from people offering a Youtube download service, or some other video site.
Instead of this, suppose the service simply analyzes your domain name, sees the major keywords in it, then matches it to a Youtube video download software's homepage/download page in its inventory?
And suppose this software has a free tool, as well as a paid tool. The paid tool, say, is $15. When a visitor comes through your domain, you get a $10 referral fee for every download.
This could mean potentially more revenue for domainers, more sales for advertisers as the traffic would be highly targeted.
Of course, you could do this by hand too. But with 1000 domains, it would become a real pain to find relevant advertisers and match them up to your domain.
Maybe this service could even generate pre-sell or landing page son the fly, besides matching domains with relevant advertisers and redirecting them there.
Could this be the next step in domain parking?
