There has always been some rivalry between Spanish and Portuguese.
It goes back to the year 1139, lol.

The top promoted movie now in Portugal is called “dot.com”
It’s a movie about a dispute over a domain name! Yes, indeed.

The story is that a village in Portugal has a site on a dot com domain and now a Spanish corporation wants to WIPO them over the domain, since they own a Euro copyright on the name.

Now the funny part and where I come in, lol.

The name of the village is “Águas Altas” and, the name of the domain in dispute is “AguasAltas.com”.

Now the IDN funny part, lol.

“Água” means water in Spanish and Portuguese and “Altas” means high. However, the Spanish version of water is NOT accented.

Guess, who just got the ÁguasAltas.com? L O L

And I have just put up a small site saying:

CITIZENS OF ÁGUAS ALTAS, I HAVE JUST SOLVED YOU PROBLEM.

YOU CAN HAND THE DOMAIN OVER TO THE SPANISH

I HAVE JUST BOUGHT THE CORRECT VERSION! THE OTHER, WAS INDEED, IN SPANISH!

Thanks guys. I am just enjoying the traffic, but do you think I should send this to the newspapers? I mean it's a nice fun story and gets IDN awareness.

I wouldnt send it to the papers if you plan on selling it. Try contacting them first.

Definitely write an article & send it out there, and generate some publicity and awareness for IDN domains, as well as potentially massive traffic for yourself.
