Hey,

What do the overture results actually mean? What is a good one? for example...if i seach something and it says 4000 results is that good? and 400, and 14000??? Whats it all mean, as i get some very weird results for some things!!!

Also, at what number should i definantely register a name, say i type in and exacy phrase "i like cake" how many searches should it have to automatically register it?

Overture results are what you make of them. I don't think these are 100 percent waht you should go on but they go help find good keywords to register names under. I would imagine it would depend on the quality of traffic on each search.

the higher the better.
And if you found one word with high overture result, reg it. :D

Only if you find phrase+.com term with at least 40 searches.
But this could be also tricky, due to many factors.

Maybe I get my answer here...

I have posted threads asking about the value of Overture-ratings here in the Misc-section (look for 800.000 ...) and nobody answered.

I have found a 3 word phrase that was searched for 800.000 times in december. Exact same spelling. .net .us and .info are free. I asked one of the domain-guru's here and he said don't register it. But he wouldn't tell me why.

What is your opinion on this ?

Without name - difficult to say.
Usually I register a name if in doubt, it costs me less then $10, so not too much to lose.
