I have free time but I don't always know when the free time is coming with football and college, so a real job is out. I need to consistently make money to help with rent and other bills. What would guys do , by way of internet, if you had some free time and about $1,000 to $2,000 to invest for start up money?

I'm just trying to get some new ideas.

Thanks.

Buy yourself a membership site, do affiliate marketing and find a premium name to resell.

Build a website or some webpages on subjects you are interested in that are also profitable. Maybe even a blog site, if you have time you can post frequently. If you are interested in the subject matter it will seem less like 'work'.

Use adsense type ads on your site + affiliate programs.

Spend time/money driving traffic to your site (research good advertising methods first before you waste $$$). Visit related sites and try to do link exchanges, or leave your link in posts or related forums where it's allowed.

Build a domain portfolio, keep checking for good names to reg. For $500/yr you can keep about 70 names renewed on an annual basis. Park them and list them for sale, or develop some of the better names as outlined above.

Adult one page sites on simple domains, however dont expect a quick return, make sure all are submitted to all search portals and to be on the safe side all meta tags added, with some type of text related to content on the page as well, if done right in 2 days youll start geting a small amount of traffic and that should build over time.

don't discount getting at least a part time job if you want 'consistent' money. the above ideas are good, but odds are you will either not see any profit right away, or you may have peaks and valleys where you don't see much revenue. my advice is work 1 - 2 days or 8-16 hrs/week at a 'job' and you will at least have 'some' continual pocket money while working on the above.

it seems like you are talking about making ends meet, and this sometimes involves a little bit of good old fashioned self sacrifice. there's no such thing as easy money.

buy a dozen roses for $10 and sell them individualy or in pairs for $5 at traffic intersections. Wear a funny t-shirt, so you will seem aproachable.
The florist will give you baby's breath and paper for free.

Your best bet is to go with domains, that you know the most about. That way you can keep building on that, the more you know the better you can make out. And the faster you can move, on stuff that other may not know as much about. Remember if you think of it, most likely some one beat you to it.

So when some thing comes up, you need to move fast before some one else does. But at the same time, if your not sure don't spend money on it. This is where knowing the subject, can push you ahead of others.
