Others may disagree, but I I think that Allfordomains.com is a good place to get an appraisal.

Allfordomains.com will give you a monetary value of the name by an expert appraiser and not just talk about the name.

The monetary figure from Allfordomains is a good guide as far as what value to charge for the name

No place where you have to pay for appraisal is good. IMO.

See that's what I mean. The Dnforum.com crowd is a good crowd and friendly crowd, but it's hard to get a good appraisal here. Either people just talk about the name or they give the domain a wholesale value.

The only time that I've seen consistency is when you have an obvious dud like Lastwordddddddddddd.com or an obvious winner like sex.com.

An appraisal site that you trust may be the best answer to getting a good dollar and cents value.

Also, you could think of it like this .. "Someone wants this domain - so what do I want? I want a Toyota Corrolla, so I'm not going to let go of this name for less than $18,000 because that's how much the car costs."

Harold, I disagree. What makes you say that? If you have a recent appraisal from any of these companies....

All affiliated:
ELEVIEW INTERNATIONAL INC
EverydayIncome.com
AllForDomains.com
SoftForces.com
FastDomainSales.com

....I would love to see it.

If you search DNF for any of these affiliated companies you might change your opinion.

So let's just say that you had to have an appraisal (with dollar and cents amount) and the buyer agreed to pay for the appraisal - What is the best place to get a dollars and cents appraisal?

Here you want an appraisal: $40 .. it's a everyday day run of the mill Adj..

it doesnt represnt a product or service and no one is searching for"
"Affective"
and it has no type-in value ..as no one is typing in "Affective.com" in the browser bar either.

That's an honest appraisal ..

Now if you are saying someone WANTS the domain...well there's only one affective.com now isnt there .. so you have to make a decision on not what it is appraised at but what you WANT for it....

This isnt a supermarket where every name has a price stamped on it...

If the end buyer contacted you, then your in a good spot. Evidently they want to change their whole business name too:
Affective.com (what kind of business is this) Hard to market Affective.com on the radio, without loosing traffic to Effective.com

If I owned it, and someone wanted it, I'de try to sell it for a fair price such as: $150-$300 (it's a tax write off for the new owner also) and it's truely a fair asking price.

What bidawinner said, now Harold, back to my question...Why did you make 3 posts supporting that particular appraisal company?

Domains always get over appraised. Ive seen shitty domains appraised at $2k+. They do this just to make customer happy so next time they return (although that price is far from realistic and they never manage to sell it for that much). Its your choice, but I personaly dont trust those companies..

I've used allfordomains in the past and was satisfied with their service. I only posted two times about that particular appraisal company and I only did that because I thought of something else that I wanted to say after I sent the first reply.

I am not affiliated with any domain appraisal company, if that's what you're insinuating.

I think that for appraisals - (if you need a professional one) you should pick a trusted company. I think it serves as a guide if you trust the appraisers and you could always include the price of the appraisal in your selling price.

The reason that I got most of my domains appraised is that I have a website at http://www.domainterritory.com -

Not all of them are appraised, but most have been appraised. I plan to reregister about 40 - 50 of them for 5 years and sit on them until the next buyer appears. I should spend between $1500 and $2000 carrying out this plan. But what I stand to make from it in the long run is much more.

I plan to make much money off of http://www.domainterritory.com and I will (especially if .us becomes very popular).

Take care

I also thought of something else that I wanted to say as a tie in sentence. --

I got many of my domains appraised because I can only reregister about 40-50 of them out of the 80 some domains that I own. I wanted expert appraisals to help me narrow down which ones to renew and which ones not to renew.

Take care,

Getting a paid Domain appraisal is just like getting a diamond ring appraised. The retail appraisal is always higher than the actual value of the item.

For Jewelry it applies for insurance uses/replacement. Domains for substantiating high resale. A domain is worth as much as the other guy will pay.

The actual selling price would be different for everyone of us...depending on the sales ability and the buyers desire to own the name. A name/price reference chart would be very helpful in gauging starting prices....

I think it would be a great asset if somehow a list of names with sale prices could be assembled and posted for refference purposes. People could look for similar names and selling prices to give a more realistic place to start from.

Just a thought.

On the suggestion of a DNforum.com member who PM'd me, I am posting my appraised domains. I know that no one on dnforum.com would pay these prices for these domains - cos' it's a wholesale thing on DNForum.com. But an end user might be willing to pay these prices and even more.

The appraisals kind of helped me to figure out what to reregister next year. Perhaps I could have spent the "appraisal money" to reregister more domains. But the problem is that I had no idea how much any of my domains were worth.

For example, I got a $500.00 offer for supplies.us and I didn't know whether to sell or not. According to this 2002 allfordomains.com appraisal - supplies.us is worth a whole lot more than $500. So I am definitely reregistering it and I'm going to make the future buyer really pay some cold cash for it.

Again, all of my appraised and unappraised domains are listed at http://www.domainterritory.com
