eNom's Total Name Registrations
(in all TLDs):
940,720
as of 5/4/2002 9:16:52 PM (PST).

Every week, they seem to be picking 20,000 new registered names despite the correction in the marketplace.

Hard to believe.

mole,

heavy discounts I would guess, and I think lots of drop people use their API. Also the have some big resellers, such as powerpipe.com.

Hey how can we find out that information???? :) Yeah I register through Namecheap.com so I put in about 20 domains this past month. That adds up to a lot of mulah for someone!

Before I'd register a single URL with enom, I'd ask myself and find the answers to...

Who is enom?

Where is enom headquartered?

What is enom?

Are they currently the cheapest or easiest, or what?

Why are they getting so many regs./transfers?

Are they openSRS?

Do they do online transfers fast?

What is their niche?

Do they sell direct?

Who are some eNOM registrars/resellers?

Why are so many people switching to them?

Where is enom? What is their web address?

Look at the registrars growing their volume the fastest: they focus on very low margin/high volume sales to their resellers, instead of higher margin direct sales. So while OpenSRS may now have more names registered (according to the State of the Domain report), are they really better off than Register.com?

eNom seems to have resellers everywhere now, although I think that their Registry Rocket reseller API is pretty ugly. I had a few names there once but transferred them after never getting support emails responded to.

State of the Domain is not perfect, but I've not found anything better for registrar news. The report is produced by Snapnames.

enom is growing fast because they are very proactive.

they approach people controlling large domain holdings direct and offer them very sweet offers (like $6.95 reges).

their api is also easy to integrate into reseller sites and their site has good tools including registrar lock.

but thats just the financial/technical side - ethics might be a very different thing and the above is definately NOT a recommendation, just an observation.

Enom is growing quick because a large percentage of their business is in resellers. They make low % per sale but make it up in volume. From What I understand their biggest resellers are registerfly.com (about 30%-35% of their total business) and dirtcheapdomain.com(network commerce) and a few other ones.

I think they will be surpassing opensrs soon.

I put in work at Powerpipe, with about 60 domains this past month.
Prob do about 100 domains in May.

eNom has grown from 1M names to 1.2M names in just a few months. It is because of their wide reseller base and decent reseller prices. I also think its because they rapidly develop new products/services to sell.

Here are your answers:

Who is enom?
ICANN accredited domain name registration registrar.

Where is enom headquartered?
Redmond, WA (about two blocks from Microsoft)

What is enom?
See above. BTW, nom is french for name.

Are they currently the cheapest or easiest, or what?
yes

Why are they getting so many regs./transfers?
see above

Are they openSRS?
no. OpenSRS is a competitor.

Do they do online transfers fast?
yes

What is their niche?
good reseller tools and price with lots of bundled domain related services (real time DNS etc)

Do they sell direct?
to who?

Who are some eNOM registrars/resellers?
eNom hosts several other ICANN accredited registrars (that is provides the back end services). Not sure who though.

Why are so many people switching to them?
see above

Where is enom? What is their web address?
http://www.enom.com
servers are in Redmond, WA

Everything has been very good thus far. Good price. Good service. Good user interface. There are some other registrars that I like as well... but I am contributing to the stats you saw. :)

My guess is because Mole is moving his domains to eNom!
Every contribution helps!

Enom have good service for reasonable price.
I try before resell onlinenic domains but support was very bad.
Now I pay a little bit more but I have good support and value added services.
