DOesn't it cost the registrar $6 to NSI to get a name?

I'm still trying to find out what the catch is, and I think it's this:

With the registration of the domain name, you get one month of free webhosting (MANDATORY). You can simply cancel the subscription in the first month, but If you do not do that, the FREE hosting account is automatically turned into a paid hosting account; $38.95 per month...

I think they are hoping many will forget to cancel the "free" hosting account....

Just not worth the hassle for the few dollars (even when compared to some $8+ pricing) regardless of the number of names you are registering.

I reg'd melbournetrading.com with them just now
Cancelled the hosting immediately
Free services look good for me.
But they choose the user id and password, perhaps, increasing the chances of forgetting to cancel the hosting

Don't you need to cancel the hosting AND the website submission service.

Are there any other catches to iregistrations.com?

If it sounds to good to be true...
There's no such thing as a free lunch...
Dot-coms can make it on advertising banners alone...

Just call me skeptical.

It would only take one time forgetting to negate the savings on dozens of domain names. Also, then what do they charge for renewals, and do they attempt to make it impossible to transfer away. Do they have a transfer fee? Some will nickel & dime you by charging extra for changing DNS from their parked page, etc.

Also, I do think the standard $6 charge is a starting point. I have heard the larger registrars get discounts or rebates upon high numbers that can get them closer to $5 or less. I don't know this for a fact though.

Enom offers "name only" acounts for $5.95 as well, but the limitation is it is parked on their page and you have NO access to services or DNS. Then if you want services you pay $3.95 to activate. This sounds far safer than the offer mentioned above.

In all, DNS control, parking on own site, etc. are worth far more than the $1-$3 difference in price, or gambling on fine print.

I registered a couple of domains there, ones that I want, but wouldn't be devastated if I lost them. I figured that eventually their interface would improve. Since it didn't, I emailed a request to [email protected] asking that they remove the lock on my names, which they did. I will be transferring the names to another Enom reseller.

Hmm... You'd think they would use the RegistryRocket Credit Card stuff if the domains are registered at Enom... :)

Yes you need to cancel each seperately.
