when you say detagged.co.uk are "not very good" do you mean that they don't get any good names?

Haven't used them myself but I would have loved to get some of the names that they have grabbed recently.

Search this place for the username DETAGGED for more info.

davidthornton - do you sell your services? (to be specific - do you offer to grab specific .co.uk's for people?)

I don't and I apart from the aforementioned 'DETAGGED' (which you can find out more information on by doing a username search on this site for 'DETAGGED') I don't believe there are any services geared towards the UK. This is possibly because it really isn't possible to predict an exact time that a UK domain name is going to drop; unlike it is (too a pretty tight period of time) with the gTLDs (i.e. .com).

Someone commented (above) that they'd love to have some of the .uk domain names that DETAGGED have caught recently. Yes, they do appear to have an okay service - which may or may not grab you your desired domain name. All I can go on, in relation to them, with regards to their operation, is what is visible to any member of this forum by doing a search.

Another very important thing to remember with .uk is that it isn't .com! ;) (obviously!). Some of the apparently good names that you can obtain in .uk are in no way comparable to the equivalent in .com or .net. I can assure you that many apparently good names won't sell [or won't sell for very much].

Reference 'cellular.co.uk' on this forum and any list of 'good' UK names you think you have found. I'd be pretty sure that in 6-12 months, a great many of these apparently good names will still be sitting idle, unsold.

So if you're interested in .uk, speculate wisely and take the time to get to know how different it is to .com.

Is the difference that .co.uk is better than .com in the UK, ton?

Bit of an old thread, but I wanted to note that as the former owner of cellular.co.uk it actually took me only a few months to sell and I am very happy with the amount I got for it. Despite the naysayers, somebody found value in it :)

It was interesting reading this thread because the marketplace has changed somewhat over the intervening time. Contrary to the earlier comments my perception is that detagged.co.uk are developing a good reputation for their drop catching work, although I have never personally used them.
