List a fake phone number. Or, keep the number real and use tollfreeforwarding.com, and forward your number to a secondary number.

I don't have any suggestions about how you can save yourself from telemarketing spam but I have a suggestion for you that will save you from LOT of sleepless nights and big pain in you-know-what -- DON'T EVEN THINK OF SIGNING UP WITH APLUS.NET. They have wayyyy too many horrible customer experiences plastered all over WebHostingTalk.

They called me once. Here is what I tell them when they told me that they are from Aplus.net

Can I have your full name with your phone number and extension? My phone number is on the 'not to call' list and according to FCC rules. your company is clearly violated the rules by calling me without checking the 'not to call' list.

The guy gave me his information and promised will take my number off the list.
I never heard from them since.

You don't want to put a fake phone number in the who is as I sold many names from people just called me.

thanks John, Im liking that tollfreeforwarding.com... cheap business expense and ensures at least voice mail for a possible buyer, if i want to screen calls.

How about Skype-In? They give you voicemail free + you can answer calls for free when you are on your computer or you can forward it to another number for a small cost.

I think we should report them to icann for abusing the whois. If Icann really cares, that is.
