Found this today and thought it was quite interesting, revealing, and a twist on the "Powers that be".

Myspace’s iLike Rises From The Dead To Block An Apple Trademark Request

For those that enjoy reading all the details, a well worded (albeit quite a bit of legal jargon) entire summation is posted as well.

When you get right down to the nuts and bolts, this is an attorney documenting his finding for refusal of the TM issuance.

Perhaps someone in iTunes greatly pissed him off. :) its a working theory in progress...

Why it is so funny to see Apple getting screwed with their own trademark :)

Oh, please. Doesn't Apple have bigger fish to fry than this?

This isn't for the "iLike" name - it's just for the logo, that they're already using.

They don't need to defend that logo, as it's not part of their brand.

Personally, I think this is a colossal waste of time.

Precisely the point!

Absurd filing, attempting to TM music notes. I applaud the attorney who dug a little deeper to negate the application.

The mention of "iLike" is purely for the matter of a dead brand still having rights.

It looks like Apple is wanting to TM every conceivable icon they come up with.
