I think this forum needs splitting:

(a) "As is"

(b) "If I develop - also suggestions please"

There are SO many domains being offered up for appraisal. Needs a little breaking down IMHO.

(c) "No matter what you appraise it at, my opinion is fixed: it's worth $100k"
(d) "Only getting an appraisal to pump my evening listing of it for sale"

:D

LOL :D And there's me trying to be serious ;)

And:

(e) "I already have a binding offer/acceptance but I'm trying my luck just once on the strength of an out-of-the-blue PM"

They could integrate some sort of domain age segregation system.

Well, an end user appraisal is always a guess anyway... There are so many factors to consider... Most of the numbers come from past sales... but demand for each name, and funds available to make purchases range between each endbuyer.

Not sure how well this would work but maybe can leverage the "silent appraisal" (ie resounding disinterest = no responses or even views) to help encourage self-selection into sub-categories such as "Penny Ante" and "Big Time" ... (Also maybe always room for an "Agonizing Re-Appraisal" section).

Some (many) posters will always be clueless but maybe the ones with sense to ask for appraisal in the most-likely range will enjoy more helpful feedback - and the ones that don't can just watch as their post title scrolls down off the bottom of the page without any views ...

If you develop, the sky is the limit. Development suggestions can be offered in the same thread, no need to break it up even more, it's quiet enough as is.

I think its ok if someone wants to see if he just regged or bought something good, or if someone got an offer on the domain. But I think you guys a right, the obvious strategy of pumping the domain should be prohibited. But yeah those people that own a 2 word .us name insisting its worth 20k annoy the hell out of everyone.
