I feel the need to say this.

I put some names up for 'appraisal' in here a while ago and received responses back like:

Value = $0

or

Value = up to $50

So, just for the record guys - one of the names which was given a $0 value has sold for over $1k.

How much time do we all waste in getting opinions on our names only to be told they're worthless and then we read the posts and feel down about the names and the 'wasted registration fees'?

Anyway - I just wanted to say "chin up" everyone - if you have nothing better to do or just feel like posting your names for an 'appraisal', that's great - BUT, don't take the opinions to heart because when it comes down to it, your domain name is worth what the buyer is going to pay - NOT what the opinions of others state the value to be.

Take it easy ...

People should never take appraisals TOO seriously.

However - if you throw out the HIGHS & LOWS - you can look at the MIDDLE and get *some* idea of the value.

Congrats on the nice sale Deb! :)

For the most part I agree. There are some members appraisals though, that are well thought out and presented properly. That doesn't mean they will be right on or even close, as what you said about buyers is true.

..opinions are like as*holes, everyone has one...

Couldn't agree more :)

Take a close look at a users opinion before making a reply.

Before you take any opinion seriously. Take a look at the users profile.
A lot of times you'll find that the same person that is telling you your domain name is worthless doesn't even have their own working website.

This is extremely important. Domain name valuation has a lot to do with marketing.
And if this person is giving you an opinion on the market value of a domain name.

You would at least think they would want to use this forum as a marketing platform for their own domains?

Cheers!
