Hello,

I need to get a certified appraisal (preferably by an expert HUMAN) that can appraise domain(s) for me at a reasonable price. I have a buyer who wants to get an official document stating how much the domain he intends on buying is worth.

Thank for your help! :greenwink:

If he tries to redirect you to his own appraisal source you will know it is a Scam. Only provide appraisals were you know you have choosen the source.

Okay, thanks for the heads-up. Do you have any other suggestions besides just that one?

This isn't an email you received is it? Because there is a scam they have you pick 1 of 3 to get an appraisal from. If they are interested in purchasing they should purchase the appraisal. I'd just give them an asking price or if you are unsure get an appraisal for yourself, but never pay for an appraisal for a potential buyer. You can tell them if they purchase an appraisal and end up purchasing the name you can take off the appraisal charge (given they send you a link to the appraisal) if the name is a couple $x,xxx or higher.

Yes I did get an e-mail. He didn't specify a place to get the appraisal though, but I still have some strange vibes about the whole thing. I'm not even sure how the person got my e-mail address who contacted me about it.

Tell them a price and they will say well for names that high we will need an appraisal. They tell you to buy one. Tell them they are purchasing the name and they can buy one and if they end up purchasing the name from you, you will reduce the asking price by the appraisal purchase price.

I guarantee you won't get another email from them.

Should I post the e-mail here?

Sure can't hurt. If you do a search on the forum here, you will find the same emails just different names, etc.

Just post it in the Avoid dealing with/ Scam forum and not Domain News forum

Here is the e-mail...

Hello,

Please send me price for your domain.

We are very interested in this name.

Did you get offers from other people already?

Our company develops client-server systems (Delphi / Interbase), so investing in domain names is not my main business.

Looking forward to do business with you.

Best regards,
Masafumi Herosuki, Ph. D.

Next E-mail...

1,200 USD. Ok.

Do you sell a web site or just the name? We are mostly interested in domain names.

Do you have an appraisal certificate?

Domain name is an investment for me. In other words I'm going to sell your name later and make a profit. If I overpay I won't be able to make a profit in the future. It's very important for you and me to know the current market value of your domain.

Of course, we must be sure that you are engaging a reputable appraisal company. I heard many appraisal companies often made inaccurate appraisals. I will only accept appraisals from independent sources I know and trust.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies in a forum
http://**********.ourplace.com/Archive/74052.htm

Juck check this posting.

If the appraisal comes higher you can adjust your asking price accordingly. I also hope you can give me 10% - 15% discount of the appraised value.

After I get an appraisal from you we'll continue our negotiations.

How do you prefer to get paid: www.escrow.com, www.PayPal.com check or wire?

Hope we can come to an agreement fast.

Looking forward to your reply.

Is it just me, or is it always the guys with that pitiful arm-flapping Panda icon that are getting scammed? :)

I have to admit I have been scammed a few times during my time. Mostly during the beginning which I fell for something similar. No biggie you learn from your mistakes. Just forget about it and move on. No sense wasting time with the individuals.
