Forgive the flippant title, but I thought this item worthy of some discussion as regards leadership in crisis. It seems "Iceland's Prime Minster Says Government Collapsed".

Now forgive me if I'm wrong here, as I don't really have any insight into the situational details in Iceland, however from the a leadership perspective, this guy probably needs to resign from office, like yesterday.
I am reminded of a scene in the movie "U571" where the "Chief" speaks with the Captain about never telling those under his command that he "doesn't know what to do". Of course, in Hollywood, the protagonist will always "suck it in" and get to work. In real life, it seems from this example, that is not always the case.
The government of a nation is really the touchstone of the existance of a nation. Throwing in the towel this way is minimally not a strong sign of quality leadership and worse yet sends a bad message to the International community.
Throwing up one's hands and saying the government has collapsed when you are the top guy in charge of running the government is just not an acceptable answer or even an option.
I think that this speaks volumes as to why the good people of Iceland need to regroup and get something new in place very soon. I certainly wish the people of Iceland well as they struggle with their own economic woes.
