I the .com of a domain is not available is .co a good alternative? Does .co have good resall potential? or is .com the only way to go. I am looking to purchase Geo Specific domains and most of the .coms are gone. All advice is appreciated.

Resale potential ? Unless you have pure premiums it's going to take a lot of luck.
I would stay away for speculation purposes.
For development purposes, well I would stay away too. I'd rather go with gTLDs. I don't see what makes .co so special.

For the record G has said it treats .co like any other gTLD. That said, I still wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole, unless it was a super premium generic.

I would say currently the vote is still out. They did decent out of the gate, but its starting to look like it might have some issues. Its a complete gamble at this point. Domainers are starting to vote no more and more.

let's keep this simple dude or dudette

the same advice you got for those .mobi, you can apply the same to .co and .xxx and whatever else comes along

the landrush opportunists always get the cream of the crop, what's left is the slop.

If you are looking at the ultra premiums, I think you are ok with .co. (Sugar.co would fall in that category)

The resale market is non-existant in .co which I think is due to the high renewal fees. I think it is a good alternative for end users but you have to know you are going to leak traffic to the .com if you develop a .co.

I'd stay away personally except as noted above.
