No .asia has only begun, but domainer to domainer sales on the forums have died.

If you want more than reg fee for your precious .asia names you better start contacting end users. Because that’s where the money is given the financial crisis we live in today

It feels like every domainer is posting domains for sale but no one is buying or even reading the for sale threads any more :sigh2:

Come on people... It's not the end of the world because the news media says so! It's up to you if you want to participate in this recession or not. If we all sit on our butts not spending any money and only hope to sell... Who will buy your domains?

.America, .Europe and .Africa are to long! .Asia is only 4 letters as .info. and .mobi.

Info is a common word in many languages. Asia is a strong and very common keyword and because it's only 4 letters it fits better as an extension. Furthermore Europe is already represented by .eu and since it's only 2 letters long logic should make it better than .com which is 3 letters. Think Not!

America already have .US Africa is harder, .Afro anyone?

If .Asia dont make sense maybe you rather prefer .ACD (Asia Cooperation Dialogue) or why not .ASEAN The Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Not many have heard about that one yet, but everybody knows Asia!

If we see an Asian Union in the future the natural TLD would of course be .AU but that's already used by Australia. So instead of launching the ugly .ASEAN or . ACD why not use the already exsisting and dare i say it... Highly Brandable .Asia :lol:

Indeed they did, i never understood .Museum. Talk about a narrow niche market.

.eu may not include every European nation, yet! But it's close enough IMHO

The .Europe TLD would be to redundant when you have .eu that is beginning to mature and becoming respectable. So where there is no need for another European TLD, the opposite is true for Asia. As fate would have it, the Asian Union can't use .AU which would be the preferred choice for a short logical and politically backed TLD. So what to do? Enter .Asia which is the natural choice and has a bigger mindshare than EU has worldwide.

.Asia does not exclude any APAC countries, but .EU does not include all EMEA countries. So .eu and .asia are both similar and different at the same time.

Nobody would seriously suggest an .EMEA TLD or .APAC TLD altough there would be logical arguments in favor for them both. It comes down to branding and global recognition. If you where director of marketing which would you choose? .Asia or .APAC vs .EU .EMEA or .Europe?

As always things are never black or white, there are gray areas in each example and none is 100% perfect. But my vote goes to .Asia

No matter what your opinion on .asia are, you could argue that .asia is as good or as useless as .eu since they both are kind of semi global TLDs. Shall i go with my country ccTLD or the regional/global TLD?

Both sides have valid arguments, but in the end what will decide any TLDs fate is if the people will take them to their hearts and use them as they use .com, net, org and even info.

Yes if your choice is between an established ccTLD like .co.uk that's been around as long as .com vs a 3 year old .eu or 1 year old .asia then the safest bet will always be the mature ccTLD not arguing about that

This comes down to each persons own attitude towards risk taking. Play it safe or calculated risk or even outright gambling

Exotic TLDs are not for every one and you must due your own dilligence before investing into them. There are opportunities to make lots of money or loose lots of money! Duh

Personally i like to diversify, i have invested in .eu, .mobi and .asia of course. But most of my domains are the good old .com and some .net and .org. Throw in a few ccTLDs. Dont put all your eggs in one basket.

Fair comment. I have a few investmet dollars in all extensions but my point is not to go crazy.

This is so true!

I remember when i started domaining, i hand regged lots of crappy .com names that was useless then and will always be useless. When you see people hand regging the same useless names in these new TLDs that doesent even have value in .com or worse, are still available in .com then you have gone crazy :crazy:

99% of my .asia names where bought in the landrush auction. This means that at least there was 1 other person interested to register that name.

There where 46553 names receiving more than one application in Sunrise or Landrush. And even some of these i would consider bad names.

Unless you find an available category killer or good generic one or two word domain. The odds are high that the name will be worth reg fee at best.

Still you see all these strange names being registered and posted in the appraisal threads every day. It was the same thing for .mobi and .eu.

By all means invest in .asia but first do your homework before taking out your credit card from your wallet!

They will get value 35% of .com at least in 2 years time.
for sure let companies start building sites and users doing online business in 73 countries.
