I nicked this info from markus ( eurodns )

Okay the .asia world has gone mad!

I can understand ace.asia going for 20k, but thats where it ends....

wellness.asia = $5,900 then weather.asia = $2,050 so what do you expect phone.asia, investment.asia computers.asia to go for???? how about $110 each :p

drugs.asia = $1,050 so you would expect aaa.asia to go for $3k?? or perhaps men.asia to go for $5k, nope $160 and $110

recent closed auctions http://dotasia.org/about/auctions_closed.html

Still overpriced.

your opinion is based on what though? a hunch? please dont some from the " I come from an asian country so I know what i am taking about" as it does not wash.

and making half sentenced remarks and wisecracks is lame ( perhaps you need to moderate youself )

Make an argument / debate but dont post empty remarks

I don't want to repeat it again but MediaWizard has said it best on his blog -- http://www.mwzd.com/2008/04/17/the-dotasia-debacle/ -- and I fully agree with him based on all that I have talked with people on the street here.

Edit: Actually, I have already debated this issue exhaustively in other dotASIA threads. You can find some in this forum.

and now you expect me to read all your previous posts to find a post on mediawizard or use telepathy WTF

I was asking for your opinion not somebody elses - and no, the "issue" has not been debated on this forum ( or are you counting "its shite, no they are good etc"
I notice you did not wade in the thread john started about dot asia domians - as everyone shut up when he said he did not have an opinion as yet.....
I read your blogs and they are very informative however i think i will now pass as you are obviously just regurgitating anyone elses thoughts.

second time of asking what makes phone.asia overpriced? Any answer will do other than "its cak"

Rob, could you answer some or all of the following?

How long have you been in the domain industry?

Have you been to Asia and if so which countries / cities?

Do you speak or read any Asian languages? (BTW .. the word 'curry' does not count, 辣椒酱 however, does)

Have you done any business (Business other that domain related) in Asia, with Asians? (Who either do not speak English / Have a smattering of English / Speak English fluently)

If a Chinese / Indian / Thai / Vietnamese person or any other Asia nationality had a choice, do you think they would choose an extension in a language they can neither read or understand for their business (.asia, .com, .net etc) or an extension perhaps in their own language (If they had the choice)

Do you think people from Asia think of themselves firstly as Asian and then Chinese / Indian etc?

Roughly, how many .asia do you own?

Apart for the first question , 13 years. the rest are irrelevant questions.

NOBODY CAN GIVE A DEFINITIVE ANSWER TO .ASIA QUESTION. so dont patronise me in asking me questions on have i been to asia or not and do i trade in asia.

If you got something to say, then say it and if not clear the thread and go hassle someone else.

If I need a sodding policeman then I will ask you.
check out the first post I made yesterday it was news, comment about that not the size of my feet

robmac started this thread by giving some important information about .ASIA domains and its auction sale price. (which is indeed a good & professional act).

It would be great if few domainers put some efforts to find out which .ASIA sold for how much & where.

In my opinion, .ASIA is an good domain extension and the value of this domain extension will be realized soon by all.

Critics of .ASIA should wait for sometime, as this domain extension is launched only on 26th of March 2008.

rob, the questions are relevant and are something you should have asked yourself before jumping into the .asia pool.
I take it you either don't know the answers to the questions or answered no?
While your aggression /rudeness may be a way to convince yourself and others of the validity of your investments, but as you so eloquently put it " .. it does not wash"
Aggression / rudeness is no substitute for definitive proof of the viability of any extension and not something to base an argument on.

aaa.asia going for $160 / computers.asia for $110 etc does not say to me that .asia is being actively sought as either an investment or by end users so where does that leave those who hold such gems as aardvark.asia?

BTW, you seem to be fond of a bit of hassle yourself .. right?

One last thing ...

Are you a legal entity within the Pan-Asia and Asia-Pacific region? As the rules laid out by dotasia.org stipulate?
http://www.dotasia.org/about/faq.html#q21

If not then you may be at risk of losing your domains seeing as your info shows a British flag and your location as London.

My response was to adomaindeal thread was correct! its just TNX affiliate link bait - I am sure people would like to know this before the guy wastes their time.

Also, you are going into mudslinging mode - which I cant stand.

My thread is related the dotasia news and the vast difference in auction prices. not your crap about my skills or where i live - if you are so bothered about skills base's or questions - go and ask john or a moderator etc then go down the list. when you have been banned and rebanned please then ask me :)

If you want to talk about .asia's and the pro's con's etc etc please be my guest if not sling your hook - open another thread or go join DP. I am not interested.

just to note: I have spent a few k on .asia's and if i make, then nice one and if i don't then i drop a few k - its life

Wondering why my government.asia didn't go to auction and still showing as pending in my eurodns account.

I should have bid on computers.asia etc...

think govenment.asia is a reserved domain for the erm govenment

That is probably the case even though they should already have gov.asia and there is no Government for the entire continent and this is a sponsored tld.

Not sure why Eurodns took my money and added the domain which is still showing as pending. They even sent me an email regarding auction for this domain which never went to auction. Of course they should not collect money and pretend to process a registration. Recently I have tried to register country domains which did not show as reserved. They did not register the domains and did not process a refund until I sent several emails to them.
