The following names were stolen from our namecheap.com a few years ago:

2of.com
hq4.com

They were transferred to name.com who then listed a whole load of ridiculous conditions however I made it clear to them we were claiming these names and we would be following up.

I would not advise you to bid on this name tomorrow as we will go all the way to reclaim these stolen properties, and will be trying to halt the delete.

The law is clear - stolen property must be returned to the rightful owner, it doesn't matter how much you bid for it.

Bid? There is no "bidding" at Name.com, it will be in expired domains marketplace and someone will buy it in seconds and it will be transferred to them immediately. And, you are talking about a "few years" ago. I doubt that you would get those names back, might as well chop it up as a loss.

I'm sorry to here you lost your names though.

@icedude

I am referring to possible auctions that may occur as the name could end up with snap, namejet or some auction house.

@Gerry; yes, I appreciate it's a while ago, here is our side of the story:

What happened was, our namecheap account was hacked into by some guy from Ukraine a few years ago and transferred to name.com.

Name.com froze the domains after I contacted them soon after.

Then they said I had to get a notary, this, that, the other.

I was working another job at the time and I just did not have the time, it was just too much hassle.

However, I always intended to come back to the issue and should have done so earlier.

However, despite the fact that there has been a delay, we intend claiming these names all the way.

Name.com never told us they were deleting the names.
Here's where were at: stolen goods belong to the original owner and must be returned no matter how much is paid at auction.

The only silver lining is that HQ4.com is on hold so at least we can get back that one.

But, the name is NOT going to end up with Snap,etc..., it will go through Name.com first and will be purchased in about 2.6 seconds.

@icedude for some reason 2of.com is in pending delete. Yes, I see your point, usually this name would go to namejet as a partner auction?

Yeah, I seen that. It dropped in 2009, right? Well, good luck in getting your names back.

No, it did not drop in 2009, that was when it was taken. We picked it up on the drop before that. Thanks for the good wishes on the domains.
