Just got this.. I am still in shock. (has anyone at Fabulous spent a weekend in Bondai or strolled past the Pink Pussy Cat Club in Sydney?)

WTF!!!! please tell me I am not crazy.... and this was a Huge mistake

Thank you for your continued support of Fabulous.com.

During an internal audit of customer domains we detected the following domain within your portfolio: teen-xxx.info

Due to recent initiatives by the Australian Government and the Australian Federal Police, Fabulous.com has undertaken a review of our policy and procedures in relation to domain names that may be classed as illegal or questionable. This new policy on domain names has come directly from the Board of Directors of the Dark Blue Sea group of companies.

The redirection of this domain has now been disabled in order to follow the policy outlined above. We also request the domain name servers be updated to redirect the domain away from Fabulous.com.

Your co-operation and understanding in regard to this matter is greatly appreciated.

Please contact me should you have any questions in regard to this matter.

Kind regards,

As a company policy, we do not want to monetize domains that include the word "teen" in association with adult content, unless it's pre-qualified as being "legal". For example, legalteenxxx.com would be acceptable.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate in contacting me directly.

Cheers,

Mike

Mike.. I am shocked.

I once held Fabulous with a little more respect than the other parking programs, but it seem that this Nanny attitude is somewhat misguided.

This attitude is hypocritical, and over the top.

What is the real reason.. is this a Sudo-Sedo like marketing ploy to show the world that Fabulous Cares? Come on. Get a Grip.

What I see as unfortunate is that they promote it as their "philosophy" when in acuality it is only a response to outside influences. They never cared about "teen" names before. Now, suddenly, all those names must be moved or redirected. If their philosophy was consistent they never would have allowed the names to be parked there in the first place. Instead, they have collected revenue on the domains for some time and now place the burden on the domain owner when they change their mind. They should just grandfather the old domains and not accept any new "teen" domains. That I could understand.

Its all hypocritical and bias and complete BS.

Teens Having Sex... OMG... god forbid. Does that really happen. eightTeen nineTeen year olds are having sex... this is all too much for me.

When a domain is place on Fabulous Nameservers, we are not in control of the keywords or the advertisers who would sponsor "Questionable" keywords

By your definition anything that is not clearly defined as LEGAL would in fact not be welcome at fabulous.

If this is true then 90% of Fabulous's Names would in fact be illegal.

Since this new policy, has all the profits that Fabulous have made to Date from Questionable or ILLEGAL domains been donated to a childrens charity?

May I also pose the question as to why Fabulous still has a category of "Barely Legal Teens"... now one would summise from this categories intent that it is Questionable.

Ok.. now lets visit Roar.com (a fabulous feed) and search for the Term "Teen Sex"

Results:
Teen Sex Sites for only $1
A list with Hardcore Teen Sex Sites for $1 Only. Tons of Videos, Live shows and Pictures featuring 100% Uncensored Teen sex, Teen Anal, Teen Blowjobs + more.
http://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Pay Only $1.00 For Teen Porn Access

Just $1.00 gets you in the door today! Access thousands of hot teen porn pics and movies for you to download. Plus the hottest live sex shows and chat, bonus sites, and lots more!
http://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Teen Sex Just $4.95
Get 3 days of Unlimited Access to Thousands of Teen Sex Pics, Videos and Live shows with Chat.
http://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Therefore Fabulous and Dark Blue Sea have no problem with its advertisers using the term Teen Sex without "Legal" on it.

Hmm. So fabulous dont mind getting paid for this "Questionable" context, but they do mind paying other people for it. Wow.. now to me that is questionable ethics.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention namestrands. Both "teen sex" and "sex teen" have been added to our banned search term list.

If you now perform a search on these terms, no advertisers will be shown.

Being a publicly listed company on the Australian Stock Exchange we are very selective in the names we choose to monetize.

As I'm sure you can appreciate, our network consists of a very large number of domains. If domains of this nature are not identified when they are submitted, we have routine reviews in place to detect them and all clients are kindly asked to remove them from our parking program.

I appreciate your understanding regarding this matter.

Thanks,

Mike

Firstly you cant appreciate an understanding that does not exist.

I have went through your Roar Sponsors and it seems that you are more than happy for your advertisers to sponsor such keywords, and even have such keywords listed in there descriptions. Outside the ones I made you aware of.

I dont mind people taken a moral stance, but it has to be non discrimanatory.

As how it stands now you will allow sponsors to pay you for those terms, yet you only take the moral high ground when you have to pay your domainers.

Well at least this has highlighted your priorities, and for that you have lost and alliance and a customer in me.

I totally concur with Namestrands. This is indeed the height of hypocrisy from Fabulous and can only be interpreted in the context of the 'morally conservative' political-social agenda currently in vogue in the US and by extension, Australia (we always follow the trend!).

There is nothing immoral or illegal about the association of the terms 'teens' and 'sex' as long as the 'teen' remains general. Of course if the word was 'pre-teen' or 'underage' I would at least understand the policy, albeit still not agree with it - after all, these are only words and words should not be banned - any illegal content yes - but not words.

As for Mike Fabulous' comments, I would imagine he probably agrees with namestrands but has been lumbered with the task of defending the policy. He talks about being a 'publicly listed company' in Australia but i'm sure he's aware that leading adult shops and brothels are also publicly listed in Oz.

But I think this is less about Australian sentiments or shareholders and more to do with the perceived reaction of US-based investors and/or suitors. We all know that the social and political environment in the US is far more sensitive to such things (could anyone imagine a similar furor in Europe about a nipple showing on TV?), so I'm afraid a few lonely domainers are unlikely to make even a ripple, or indeed a nipple, of difference in this matter.

"Australia - The Next Nanny State"

Its amazing how opinions are like HOLES - Everyone has one.

Yep, the Federal police in Australia are cracking down on child porn. About a year ago there was a national blitz where computers where confiscated, People busted on camera's. Exposed on Tv. Even officers of the child porn squad were arrested for having child pornography on their computers. The heat was turned up on everyone who own a computer. You'red think twice about visiting any porn sites if you lived in Australia.

But this was over a year ago, who knows when the next blitz will happen.

So yes I can understand FAB's point of not having any teen or sex domain name. Easy target for the federal police.

This Fab bashing is just pure BS. Fabulous is a great company in my esteem. And I'm sort of "the competition" now, saying that.

If anyone has "teen" traffic that Fab can't take there are plenty of other options .

I really feel for them in this predicament. We in the United States had a bloody revolution that settled among other things whether there would be the right of free speech. We never really enjoyed that right until recently in the late 20th century when it began to be taken very seriously. But its still under attack.

One suggestion, Mike. You guys could always move the operation to Vanauatu. Drink kava all day long under a palm tree, that wouldn't be so bad, heh?

Once you get screwed you will be changing your tune. Just takes time. Best to stay in the US/Canada and not get ripped off.

Australia a nanny state because Fab won't accept your names that are aimed at child abusers?
Don't kid yourself that teenagers are using your site.
Pink Pussy Cat Club closed down about 3 years ago due to lack of interest.
Get with the program namestrands. Update your knowledge a bit.
Bondai? Oh you probably mean Bondi Beach
It is just an inner city Sydney beach crowded with English backpackers. Don't see the connection to child abuse.
A guy named Chad has done some amazing work in another place, alerting another PPC provider to your type of names.
That PPC provider has taken the same action as Fab did.
Regards
Joe
