I am currently looking to switch from my small local credit union to a larger national bank. What is the best bank for domaining? I want a bank where I can do bank wires online and anything else online. Please let me know!

What is wrong with your Credit union? Credit unions are usually better than big national banks.

Well, I am very limited as to what I can do online and I would like to initiate bank wires without having to call them everytime, etc.

credit unions usually can handle such transactions online or thru call-up services.

i use a credit union as well

once you have your routing number then it should not be a problem.

if you do find a bank > citicorp > wamu > chase > 53.com , then let us know

I agree that Wells Fargo would be your best bet.
You also could try Bank of America.

Bank of America doesn't provide online/phone wire service ... :sigh2:

I'd be careful about CitiGroup. Have a good friend who got stiffed in a huge international transaction (not domain related) using his platinum card and citibank would not refund the full amount and wanted to "negotiate" with him.

Unfortunately, the ones that I have dealt with may not be local to you...SunTrust, Peoples Bank are simply stellar in service and quality. Have been a SunTrust customer for nearly 17 years now. Superb online banking menu. Have used them a couple of times for wire transfer but only on the receiving end.

For big accounts and transactions, you may want to check Chase. Have CC accounts with them and have been thoroughly happy. Very fast response time by either email or telephone. Moved all my CC accounts there after the above mentioned Citi mess.

Wachovia and Bank of America are big nationally. But I would say that Wachovia is heads above BOA in terms of service and reliability. Have used them on two auto loans. Great service, easy to use.

Others we have dealt with in terms of auto loans or various products over the years...

BB&T-Worst service I have ever encountered. Now have Saturday banking and the bank robbers love it. Gives them more time to rest between heists.

RBC Centura-I know I already said the worst service ever, but this is too. Changed the rate on a land purchase without disclosing it to us and only discovered it at closing. They "forgot" to lock in at the lower rate when we did the initial contract. Only consented to offer the rate when we were walking away from the deal. And guess what? I know another couple that they did the same thing to. Two different branches, no less. Avoid at all costs.

HAVE NOT TRIED, but giving consideration: E-trade. Spectacular rates, great menu, many features. Giving consideration to them due to an anticipate move in perhaps 5 years. No banks mentioned will be available so I may open and account (banking) with them and start using it. I like the idea of taking a bank with me no matter where I am. I have used them exclusively for Stock Market trades, etc. But I am well aware at how easy the transactions go and wire transfers are simple and easy, both ways. I have looked at the banking features and this is one of them.

If you anticipate a house purchase or just investing in general I would give this a look. Best rates on money market accounts, CD's, very competitive on Home Loans and a host of other features including Roth IRA's, etc.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a financial consultant, I do not own stock in any of these mentioned, and sure as hell don't plan on buying any in RBC Centura (or whatever they may be called now) or BB&T.

Thanks for all of your inputs. I have applied at Wells Fargo now, I will let you all know what their features are, etc.
