Hi all!

What are the best movies of 2008 you may recommend to watch?

I've been busy most time of the year or spent time outside when the weather was nice.

Now it's time to relax and spend more time with loving family members and friends as the holiday season approaches...

What are the movies that worse to watch and why? In your own opinion ...

- Plus a film adapted from a book of an italian writer, Roberto Saviano.
The title of the film is "Gomorra".

Don't go with Indiana Jones 4 or National treasure 2. Indiana Jones was a severe disappointment and National Treasure just jumped the shark, big time.

27 dresses was cute. I haven't seen the Dark Knight yet but want to.

I'll also recommend "Serenity" (and if you want - the whole "Firefly" series). Great movie - highly underrated.

We also watched "Finding Rin Tin Tin" the other night - while definitely a kids film it's still fun to watch (like Lassie from a few years ago but Rin Tin Tin is more "kiddy").

The Futurerama movies are good (if you're into Futurerama).

Carter - did you actually see all of those or did you just list them off?)

I've see the 70% of the list.

I want recommend to buy also some dvd's of telefilm of '80...like Supercar, Hazzard, Chips, Charlie's Angels.
They great when you want relaxing :)

Pans Labyrinth was great - if you don't mind subtitles (the film is in Spanish).

There are some oldie but goodies, too:

Krull
Labyrinth (with David Bowie)
Hudson Hawk
The Fifth Element
Ice Pirates (cheezy but entertaining)
Swing Kids

Some anime, too:
American Pop
Rock and Rule
Akira

(It really depends, though, how old the kids are, if any).

Edit: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - try to find the BBC version (it's better than the movie).

Dude, where is IronMan on the list? LOL

IronMan was an awesome cartoon to film adaptation.

Also, I might recommend SouthKorea.net, a nice short film about the geo domain name industry. :)

The Dark Knight is a great movie because it is an entertainment movie while at the same time raising important points about the war on terror, democracy and invasion of privacy.

I'm quite demanding when it comes to movies, so I'm not sure if I can recommend many of those released in 2008. Overall, I liked last year's movies better.

I saw Pan's Labyrinth mentioned earlier in this thread. That's a 2006 movie, but watch it if you haven't yet. Pan's Labyrinth is a wonderful movie if you see the charm behind the violence depicted in it. (The plot makes it sound like a fairy tale, but this is NO movie for children!)

Hancock starts out good. The first half is really fun and Will Smith is cool, but the second half is almost painful to sit through. Feels like two different movies merged into one. Great concept, poorly executed.

Quantum of Solace is a pure action movie, it doesn't feel like Bond at all. If action is for you, chances are you will enjoy it. If you like the traditional James Bond, stay out of this one.

Into the Wild

Iron Man was pretty awesome

There Will Be Blood

Dark Knight

No Country For Old Men

these are the best new movies I can recall seeing this year

the other Coen Bros film was pretty good too, Burn After Reading i think it was called

Meet Bill was a fun sort of buddy movie and if nothing else Jessica Alba is a piece ;) maybe you don't want to watch that with your wife? :D

oh, one more. Forgetting Sarah Marshall. great movie.
