Some best practices of being a domain name buyer and seller are located here:
http://www.dnforum.com/bestpractices.php

It's a page we setup a couple of months ago to offer tips and advice regarding using the forum and good advice in general about the domain business.

http://www.dnforum.com/bestpractices.php

While the list is not exhaustive and certainly there will always be tips to be added to it, we will gladly add your suggestions. We ask that you contribute some ideas to the page.

Post here and we will add your comments to the list.

Thanks in advance!

If you agree to a deal, you shouldn't back out even if you recieve a higher offer.

Happens often and annoys me.

Thanks Ginge. That falls under morals and ethics, while I agree with it 100%, we're really looking to add tips to the page regarding advice to protect yourself as a buyer and seller of domains.

I could perhaps clarify Rule #8 with that piece of advice.
This is that rule currently:
http://www.dnforum.com/rules.php#8
8. Complete your sales! If a member posts "sold" or PM's that he/she will buy your domain, website, service, etc., please attempt to complete the sale in a timely manner. This goes for both parties, please make yourself available to complete the sale as soon as possible.

OK, Ginge, I clarified rule #8, this is the rule now:
8. Complete your sales! If a member posts "sold" or PM's that he/she will buy your domain, website, service, etc., please attempt to complete the sale in a timely manner. This goes for both parties, please make yourself available to complete the sale as soon as possible. In addition, your word is your bond. If you agree to a deal, you shouldn't back out - even if you receive a higher offer (sellers) or if you think you offered too much (buyers). Do the right thing and the right thing will eventually return to you.

specify the currency you're expecting in your sales thread (ie $200USD if selling a .ca)
