I've got a client with a 3-letter .com. I think it's a pretty good name. Scrabble score for the letters is 1-3-3. They aren't in any hurry to get rid of it, but are open to selling it if I can find a buyer in the 6-digit price range.

Does this seem realistic?

Any tips on the best way to make this happen for them?

Thanks

ud.com sold for $99k so I doubt they'd get 6 figures for it, unless it's an exceptional domain.

If it isn't a word, the only chance will be to find a company motivated to buy that doesn't have prior rights but has a compelling enough need to justify that much for an acronym, very few do.

Based on probabilities, I would say 6 figures is not a realistic expectation.

Only chance is to figure out who would want it, has ability to pay and then proceed with caution.

Not easy to reach 6 figures these days, if not impossible (for not high-end domains).

Is the domain listed for sale anywhere atm?

Have you ever tried approaching any potential end users directly?

Not listed anywhere yet. The client just approached me about it this weekend. He has never attempted on his own.

I did a Google for the initials and it got a few hits, which I'll probably try to approach directly. Other than that, any suggestions on ways to find buyers?

Without the name (I know you don't want to list them here) no one can tell you how much you can sell it for. The range for LLL .com could be from 10K to 100K so you need to know the value before you are going to waste your time.

You could pm a couple of senior members here to ask for the estimate selling price or I could try if you want to pm me.

sit back and wait...

lately it's been kinda risky for lll com owners who solicit offers from companies with similiar acronyms

calling you a squatter could be their first thought and they could try to use it against you.

on the other hand, as others mentioned, get with a few members who "you know" have gotten "cake" for domain sales.

maybe they could put you in touch with a client or two.

i would have to go with a moniker t.r.a.f.f.i.c. auction placement if the name is not just an acronym.

Make sure there is a "contact us" link on the page..alot of end users don't always know how to use the whois or won't even bother if it's got whois privacy...the easiest way to sell anything is to make sure people know it's for sale. PM me the domain please also. ;)

ummm..more like good deals to be had from people that are freaking out or badly in need of funds, or just being at the right place at the right time, we all know the best deals on domains are right before the winter months/holidays...glass half full grasshoppa, glass half full. :smokin:
