Hi,

After sitting on this domain for a few years, we're selling it off. Purchased it on pool.com for just over 5k.

I'm wondering if the value has increased since then, or should we be content to receive a few thousand for it?

Thoughts?

Thanks

Well like any domain, there is "value to someone" there is a market for the sub-domain sports.betting.ca
it is a category killer unfortunately its in the casino/poker/gambling area and compete with ProLine where there are some big players

has 135,000 local exact match and a cpc of 2.76 so those are great # in this market i would be looking for an end user

Great domain but unfortunately all the US action against internet gambling has really decimated the value of a lot of gambling names.

Here are some comparables

2012 July
Sportsbook.ca at $5,000 DomainNameSales

2011 Jan
HorseRacing.ca 19k (sold by jay.ca)
onlinecasinos.ca sold $28,000 (sedo)

Mar
bet.ca 200k (roughly)

Nov
$8,725 SportsbookReview.ca Moniker/SnapNames.

2010
Mar
Gaming.ca $16,000

June
poker.ca $400,000

July
slots.ca $206,906

Betting definitely ranks up there with the top quality names but whether you can get top $$$$ for it is something else. I would definitely aim for end users and use the above comparables to show value.

Based on those comparables, it should at least be in the $15k to $30k range.

I think the Sportsbook.ca sale was a good one for the buyer.

The US may also soften its stance on online gambling over time, in order to collect taxes on it.

You should be able to get xx,xxx IMO. Obviously bet.ca would be better BUT Ian brings up a good point with the potential sub domains.

I'm betting if you hold and don't fold you'll do fine. Let it ride until an end user wants it. Consider it a long term GIC. Lmao

Great name

Good Luck keep us posted

If that's the case, you should also post the auction link in the external auctions section of dnforum.

I'm sure a lot of us will be watching for the final price. Looks like there are three bidders so far.

Good luck!

I put a link to the auction out on Twitter and it got about 70 click throughs to the auction page. Looks like it's at about $1500 now, and 5 bidders.
I did the same and drove about 50 views there this afternoon. Looks like you did pretty good almost doubled your money. Congrats!
