I was just over looking at DNJournal when I saw a small banner ad for Bido.com. What's this? Bido.com, a new auction site? a new advertising site?
Anyway I clicked on it and to my amazement it is a new site opening according to the advert on Febuary 29th. But still no indication of what the site is.

But hang on, this new site lists 4 co-founders, they are: Ron Jackson, Sahar Sarid, Jeff Bhavanie, and Darren Cleveland. So this does have some weight behind it, this is not just another 'nothing' venture without legs or an experienced head controlling it.

But one thing still bugs me, even after watching their ad I still am not sure what the hell Bido.com is going to be, but whatever it is I am sure it will be worth keeping an eye on.

Whatever it may end up to be, at the end of the day all they (may) ask is daily, monthly stats and revenue. And if your domain ever gets sold, it will be based on those multiples.

Domainers should not be in this business if they depend on outside entities determine price valuations. When I buy a name I must know to a degree how valuable my investment is and not wait a year down the road to get an appraisal from a so called expert.

I look forward to Bido. I hope it is different and provides domainers a platform to profit from.

it is a waste of time looking at the site/video

They don't say what they do, they just ask you to register.

They could tell what they do before they ask me to register.

When I see Ron Jackson mentioned I tend to sit up and listen, especially with the others he is partnered with now on whatever this is.

I have never been a fan of the "give us all of your information including your top domains and how many hits you generate before we even have our service defined in terms of what exactly we are going to give you" type stuff.

But I'll be watching to see what they end up rolling out.

I don't get the logic behind this: give us your personal information but we won't tell you why we want it.

That site is BS - extended to your personal info stealing.com

What kind of F is that - they don't even tell what they do, and I have to give them my personal/private info.

Hey, no need to start a riot here! I just posted it because I thought it could be interesting. Obviously nobody has to 'sign up', I haven't. But then again I doubt if they want my kind of portfolio! :sigh2:

It is just something I noticed and with the caliber of the people involved thought I would mention it here as something of interest.

Looks like some type of "Domainer Viral Marketing" where they get everyone talking about it before they let you know exactly what it is.

Sort of like Cloverfield.

What they do at the end is not my concern.

Any respectable company should tell what they do before asking someone to signup!

If you want to collect my info before you tell me what you do!
That is very bad...

Maybe this...Maybe That.

Maybe they are testing to see how many people will jump in based on the weight of their Names/Status in the industry.

I bet they are doing some sort of business with domain names.

Build up hype about a site... it looks like it's working. I do not get the personal info stuff, as nobody knows why they would be submitting it.

My guess,

If you're worried about data mining, just sign up using a pseudonym like Tom Ebbay, or John Googel. :D

Pretty sure they are going to do something like trafficavenue.com did a few years ago. You sell your traffic and people bid on that traffic. High bidder gets the traffic until outbid by someone else. I guess you have to decide if you want to sell your traffic.

On a side note, the guy who ran trafficavenue.com wound up running with everyone's money, ripping off many people. I lost around 2K to him. I'm still not sure why this JC Mobley guy is not in jail.
