What extension do you thnk will be mainstream in the next 3 years? 5 years?

I personally think they all will stay about flat to where they are now except the .us extension. I like that extension and think the names are still affordable and the they brandable.

Anyone else with any thoughts?

you should not place .net in the same group with the other extension, as it is much older and well established (and much better IMO).
now, the answer really depends on where you are located, and whom you are targetting.
for an international audience that is business related, .biz will probably grow fast.
in Europe, .info for general info sites will grow fast.
in the US. .us will grow fast.
I dont think any of them will become mainstream.
com/net/org are mainstream

I think .BIZ has a lot of potential for becoming mainstream with the business-to-business community in the next 3-5 years.

I agree, except there are some exceptions in that a "generic" dot us name, or "pertinent" names (like major cities) will do better than average here in the US anyways--which does limit it.

The same could be said for the other two, .biz and .info. The best names to have in each TLD will be generic and be a perfect match. You could throw dot pro into this mix as well. Eventually this domain will be let out of it's box, and certain domains will immediately do well (ultra premium generics).

Ultimately, a TLD must begin to reach a certain awareness (and bonifide usage) to gain a foothold on the internet landscape. I think you will see .biz and .info advertised heavily in the next few years.

I'm already starting to see .biz names (locally) being advertised. This guy is actually buying "air time" to promote his site: http://www.autovenue.biz . As far as I can tell, he doesn't own a car dealership, however his ads on TV makes it seem like he does (interesting idea--don't laugh a friend of mine bought a car, sight unseen via the internet). In the ad it shows his "AutoVenue.biz" sign outside what looks like a car dealership!!

additional info on this site: It appears he has a physical location of just sales staff, that help you find cars via the internet.

Agree with .biz becoming a clear third behind .com and .net,infact it could become second to .com as here in the u.k i have seen some major companies advertising as .biz for example one of britains biggest parcel carriers is "businesspost.biz" and its advertised on thousands of their vehicles all over the u.k !

.biz is getting bigger by the day !

It all depends on what is it targetting. .biz is quite old too so i guess these extensions should be targetting in the coming years: .in , .us and .info.
.com , .net and .biz are a way old and popular extensions.
